Looking to move away from the Dare

My contract is about up and I have the Dare right now. I absolutely hate texting on this phone. The qwerty keypad is completely unusable for my huge hands. I had the enV before this one. Wish I could still get it. Screen size is a big deal. Any suggestions?

I've got the dare as well. Great phone but your right QWERTY keyboard is a little flaky. So I picked up an enV2 off E-bay.
If your contract is up pick something up and sell it on E-bay to off set the cost of a enV2.

You'll find that the days of the env-sized phone will be gone when the Voyager runs out. The env2 is smaller and may or may not fit the way the first env did.

Also, the env3 and env touch (aka Voyager2) are on their way in the next few months, and might be worth looking into.

I have the Dare, it takes great photos and the phone calls are clear. But texting is a huge pain in the a**.

I was wondering are all Verizon phones going to be touch screen in the next 6 months? I want a phone that has qwerty board, no I do not want the Versa.

My contract expires 7/1/09, I live in Gainesville, Fl. and by the way ALL the carriers work here. So service is not an issue, but a quality phone is.

You guys have always been helpful to me in the past, are there any good phones for texting coming out soon? No I am not interested BB's or the Storm.

Have a great week.

P.S I have lived here for 9 years, not really a Gator fan.

Samsung Alias 2 comes out on the 11th.

Env3 comes out in the next couple months.

Neither are touch.

Hi epik,

I have had Samsung phones in the past and I never liked them. So according to your reply that would leave me just the Env3. It would of been nicer than just having 2 phones to pick from.

By the way, the ONLY reason I use Verizon is because where I work, Verizon won the bid to put a small tower on our propert at work.

I am losing interest with Verizon with each passing month. My contract is over in July 2009. So I'll give them maybe 3 or 4 months to see if any of theit new phones are worth me staying with them.

I've worked for Verizon for five years now, and in that time I've seen phones come and go, brands rise and fall, and fads fade away.

I can't speak for the Env3 or the Alias 2, but I can speak to their predecessors. Specifically, I've had no where near the issues with the Alias that I've had with the V, the Env, and the Env3 in their respective lifetimes. The Alias had three incarnations which were mostly color changes. I have my mom on the Alias.

Now, I'm no big Samsung fan. Samsungs are hit or miss - either its a good handset, or it stinks (quite frankly). LG is usually a good handset, though they've had a couple duds along the way, and a lot of software bugs these last couple years.

Both of the older models are on my "good ph...

There is a motorola phone comming out with a slide QWERTY. This summer I think is when it should hit. Also, the enV3 is going to be a really good phone. The Cam on it is 3.0 or 3.2, can't remember. It will come in Maroon and Blue.

E815, in my opinion, was the last good phone made by Motorola. Their phones, as well as their company, just aren't the same anymore.

These are ranked in order of preference (IMO)....

1. BB 9630 Tour (will be out in July and is well worth the wait!)

2. BB Curve--Great keyboard and smooth OS

3. Samsung Omnia--Pretty solid keypad and prolly the best WM device verizon offers.

4. BB Storm--Some OS issues, buts its a really fun phone. Keyboard is ok once you get the hang of it.

5. Touch Pro--Slick looking, solid keypad. A little too wide for my personal taste tho.
