Does Verizon unlock Storm GSM bands for use overseas?

Some time ago, somebody in this forum mentioned that after 60 days of owning a Storm, Verizon, upon request, unlocks its GSM bands so that the phone can be used overseas with European SIMM cards. I went to the store today and was told by several salesmen that it's absolutely untrue.

Any good up-to-date info on this? Thanks.

Unfortunately, the salesman are correct. Verzion does not unlock the phone upon request. If you unlock it on your own, that is a different story....

Yes you can.  The SIM card may be unlocked, but by only the global support team.  The phone must be active on a line of service and you must be a customer for at least 60 days.  You must not have a past due balance or any suspensions in the past 60 days.Call customer service and ask for the global support team and they will assist you in unlocking the SIMFor internal Verizon Reps, I found this in Infomanager.  I can not post it since it is an internal communication, but I gurantee if you meet the qualifications, the global support team can assist you.

Absolutely correst. Yes, you can. 🙂 I called the Global Support @ 1-800-711-8300 and they confirmed it. Neither the regular customer service rep I spoke with today, nor several salespeople at the store I visited yesterday knew anything about it. At the store, they thought I was pulling their leg. Even more amazingly, the customer service rep appeared confused (and put me on hold to verify it) when I told him that, in the US, Verizon uses a CDMA network.

If the rep put you on hold to verify that in the US, Verizon uses a CDMA network...I feel really sorry for any customer they have ever spoken to or will ever speak to. WOW. 🤣 But to pre-emptively answer another question (that is bound to be asked)...NO...you can't unlock US GSM to be used.
