Moto Krave . . .

Verizon is having a great sale on the Moto Krave; I see a lot of bad comments about it but it seems like a nice solid simple phone with the basics.

Can anyone please comment?

Also, it says you can download the latest software over the air; anyone know the latest update? Has the phone gotten better?

thanx

I just got one. As soon as I activated it, there was an over the air software update. I really like mine. It's responsive and does everything that I need for it to, when I want it to. The big thing for me is, there is no speed dialing option.

the lack of speed dials is what sent mine back to the store after 10 days of trying to live without it. other than that, it was a great phone! awesome reception.

I was playing with this phone in the store, it had the latest update which does update itself over the air. I just can't get use to the keyboard; with the flip cover on the left side it makes two thumb typing almost impossible.

Then I was trying the LG Versa for a while; big difference. Even without the attached keyboard; I just use the on screen touch keyboard, it was much more responsive, easier to use, and didn't have that annoying flip in the way. I like the flip but it cause a big issue for typing.

Another thing, although minor, the camera on the Versa seems much better. Again more responsive and has that great LG feature of panorama view picture taking . . . so easy.

All in all, it just seems that LG has their software tog...

Yeah, I was on the fence about the Versa since it seemed like a downgrade from the Dare, but my daughter (who has only owned smartphones for years) told me she played with a friend's Versa and absolutely loved everything about it. I'm curious why so few people are posting reviews on it. I'd like to see some more!

I don't think so...

Yeah, just the camera I guess is not a 3.2 like the Dare. But my daughter and I both agree the faux leather cover on the keypad is just ugly. She said her friend doesn't even use the attachable keypad-the touchscreen is really good. I would still like to see some more user reviews for it. How well are they selling?

I can't imagine at $199 they could be selling that well . . . I'm waiting for the LG sale. Hope it's soon. Any word? For that matter, would really love to see something similar with a 3 or 5 or 8mmb camera. I'd pay the $199 for that.

We've sold about a dozen since it came out, and we're a very high volume store. I have one, myself.

I initially enjoyed the phone. It worked well, the keyboard was forgiving for someone with touch screen issues, and progressed through screens quickly. I alternated time with the keyboard and decided the keyboard's biggest problem wasn't the faux leather (I assume they could make a sleek and sheet black version if they wanted to), but the weight of the main body of the phone makes it harder to work with. A phone like the Voyager is well balanced when open, where the Versa is back-heavy.

However, my biggest frustration has been the constant freezing I've been experiencing. I haven't had anyone else - even coworkers who have the phone...

I haven't had the opportunity to mess around with a Versa just yet, but I kinda have my eye on it. It's funny, though, because people seem to still be enamored by the Voyager, yet they don't seem to flock to phones that are - in my opinion - superior, such as the Dare. I feel that Versa is going to have a similar story. It'll probably sell much better once it drops in price, but it really isn't that much more expensive than the Dare.

Right now the Dare and Versa are overpriced! When you can get two Blackberry Storms for $199 a Versa is hard to swallow.

They should stop this alternating vendor sales and just set fair pricing!!!

I have to agree, but you HAVE to buy the data plans for the new smartphones which is where they'll make their money. But I agree because I thought my son's Dare would be a cheaper choice than a Storm, but it costs more than $30 a month for the VCast and then whatever he downloads, and then "subscriptions" whatever the hell they are. So people who think they are saving on that data plan by going Versa or Dare might want to think again... But my daughter wants to replace her smartphone with a Versa, so...I guess it's all about what you like.

OK . . . so my question is if you have a Storm with the data plan, is VCast included?

If you have a Storm and the data plan do you get VCast, MobileTV, VZA Nav?

I'm confused!

No VCast, that's the $15 plan for the dumbphones; and I don't think it has Mobile TV, but not 100% sure. Nav should be available on the smartphones for an extra $10 a month. But with or without it, the Storm does have GPS. And by the way, you can't have a Storm WITHOUT the data plan at Verizon.

I really like my Krave. I have updated the software twice and finally it has speed dial. If you get the USB cord you can download directly from Motorola. The sound quality is great. I sold my old LG Chocolate 3 on Ebay to get this phone. I have had 3 LG phones and have hated them all. They do not come close to Motorola for sound quality.

Where do I look on the Motorola website to download speed dialing. This is an issue which I had thought about sending my phone back.

Currently Krave has a single dedicated speed dial selection, Voicemail (*86), used by pressing and holding the 1 key. There is no ability for users to program speed dials buttons. However a great feature of Krave is the Favorites List. To set a contact as a favorite

1.
Press Contacts from the Home Screen
2.
Press the contact you want to add to the Favorites List
3.
Press Set as Favorite

To use Favorites to quickly dial a contact

1.
Press Contacts from the Home Screen
2.
Press the Down Arrow to the right of the Contact List title bar
3.

This is not correct. The newest software upgrade does add speed dial in addition to Favorites. http://direct.motorola.com/hellomoto/motosupp ort/source/softwareupdateselect.asp?country=U SA&language=ENS

You will need a USB cable.

Wade . . . your thread did not work; page doesn't exist.

Also how do you deal with the Krave keyboard I find it almost impossible to thumb type with the cover opening on the left side!!
