Phones with WIFI

I have been looking at upgrading my phone, and I'm noticing that VZW doesn't offer much in the way of phones with WIFI - especially the Blackberrys. I've asked a few reps about this, and keep getting different answers. The last rep told me that it was because "VZW cares about it's customers, and since so many business people use BB, we don't want to put them at risk for getting hacked and having their info stolen." Umm... if that was such a concern, why would RIM even MAKE a WIFI BB?

So... does anyone have any ideas? I know there are a couple Samsungs, but are there any new WIFI phones coming out? Thanks!

The Omnia is the current model phone with wifi.

There isn't wifi on blackberries for verizon because there are no CDMA blackberries with wifi. I think the real reason for this is because no major CDMA carriers offer wifi "hotspots" like ATT does so they never asked for wifi in their phones.

I don't know any specifics, but I was told by our verizon tech rep to expect more WIFI capable phones within the next year or so. It's not a feature that is needed on verizon phones, but it's something that people started asking for.

The Touch Pro has WiFi. The Diamond does too when that comes out and the Omnia.

verizon is going to tell you you dont need wifi and that its not safe and blah blah blah because they cant charge you for using it. or at least they havent found a way to charge you yet.

vzw nickle and dimes its customers out the yin yang. if they cant charge you to use a feature on the phone, they either disable it or remove it.

Wrong. There is a way to charge you with WiFi. But, if your PDA/Smartphone did have WiFi you would need a data pack anyway. A PDA/Smartphone is useless without Internet. Next, Verizon charges the same amount as AT&T. Verizon has better Texting plans then AT&T, and AT&T 39.99 plan does NOT come with Unlimited nights and weekends while Verizons does. Next, you PAY for what you GET. America's LARGEST Voice and 3G Data network. Verizon does not block WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth, ect. anymore. Next, WiFi is not 100% safe, but if you have 3G almost everywhere in the US, then its worthless because WiFi kills your battery life. But, Verizon has said there will be more phones with WiFi comming out.

How do we nickel and dime you? would you rather they include everything in the package and tell you that you don't have a choice what features you want?

You can either have "custom packaging" or you can have everything "included" for a higher price. If verizon bundled even three features with their basic package in increased the price a bit to compensate, there would be a ton of complaints lodged that verizon is forcing customers to accept features they don't want.

The nickel and dime complaint is wearing rather thin considering that all those "features" are clearly listed, and unlike other companies we charge per MB for data, which is a lot cheaper than charging per KB.
