I have been thinking about moving to verizon since they took over unicel. Been stuck at uscellular for 7 years since in Maine there were no other carriers in the area that had very good coverage. Just wondering about the phones, coverage, customer service, ect, right now it looks like ill be going with an 89.99 plan, with 900 minutes, unlimited text pics and web. and to seal the deal they are offering me a 20% discount on my plan because of the hospital i work for. It seems like a no brainer, but i dont know anyone personally that has verizon...just looking to get some info...should i go for it?

Thanks for any help anyone can provide

Hey,

Absolutely, that 20% would be a great move to come over to Verizon. You can always try out their network for 30 days to see if you're going to like it. The only problem I see is that you do not know anyone with Verizon which maybe a problem because of the IN calling issue. Some people go with the carrier all their friends, and family have so they can call unlimited. HOWEVER, you get 5 numbers to call unlimited. I'd check it out, but that's totally up to you.

Hope that helps,

Thanks for your help. im sure it will change soon because i have a bunch of friends that are waiting to move over to verizon from unicel. and in 7 years i havent gone over my minutes and all ive had is 700 minutes. But the nights and weekends will probably help me quite a bit from going over. I guess its a no brainer decision then..im looking at the new LG Versa that should be at the store in 2 days

I would steer clear of the LG Versa. I thought it was a good idea until I realized the removable keyboard was actually a case that encased the actual phone and made it twice it's original size. Plus I don't know if you've seen the video on the Versa posted here put you have to take the battery cover off to attach the keyboard.
Just a little too much going on and that could break for my taste.
I'd suggest the LG Dare, BB Storm, Samsung Omnia. And, yes VZW is great in many aspects but the phone itself that you get will play a big roll in how satisfied you are with VZW service.

er... it doesn't actually make it anywhere near twice its original size... for one, it replaces the batter cover on the back, so no extra thickness there, a little wider on the side due to the hinge the keyboard bit is actually quite thin. altogether it's less than a 1/4 inch thicker with the keyboard than without. (also, it's got the pleather thing making it a bit thicker...)

Personally, I just carry it around with the keyboard in place and leave the battery cover at home...

Remember with the 900 minute plan you also get 5 numbers (non-verizon) you can add to your in-calling.

Thanks for all your help, its greatly appreciated, my lg versa should be here today at some point. the big thing that i picked it over the Dare was the fact that it had flash support, but if the dare gets the same update id def switch to it within the 30 day period to take advantage of the better camera.
