Verizon's offers for renewing customers.

Hello all you Verizon reps out there.

I'm a cingular rep, who "gasp" has service with Verizon. I really can't help it since cingular isn't available in my area quite yet. Stupid upper midwest...

I know that with cingular, the web deals are generally better than the in store deals, and we allow the customer to take advantage of the web deals when they are renewing if they aren't eligible for any other promos at the time. (and generally they are)

My real question is that I'm going to be renewing my contract in a couple months, and I think some what get the renewal process for Verizon. When you renew your contract (I'm finishing up a two year contract here, and starting another one), you get $100 towards a new phone. I'm currently on ...

boys boys.
I'm on a rate plan that I'm sure is around $50 or higher, that really isn't the issue. The issue is how many of my phones (I have three) are eligble for the $100, and if I can change my rate plan and add a line at the time of renewal. I also want to know if you guys think the web prices are better than the prices that the stores and phone lines offer. I find that with our company, the web is better.
What do you think?

The "New Every 2" is eligible for any phone on your account that is on a price plan of $34.99 or higher. So with that said if you are a on a family share plan only the primary would get the New Every 2 since the other phones are on for $20 a month. Onlin...

Yes.IN this respect Cingy is a hell of a lot better.

The $100 New Every Two credit only applies to your primary line. So only one of your lines will get that credit. The promotional or "upgrade" price applies to all phones that are being renewed. Generally that price is the same as you pay for adding a new line. Say you're looking at getting a Motorola V265. The website has that phone listed at $99.95 or something with a $50 rebate. You will get that phone free on the primary line. Your other lines will get it for the $49.95 which is the price after the rebate. I believe the retail stores are going to pretty much have the same pricing that is available online. I know Authorized Agent locations have different pricing and in my case it's normally a little cheaper.

You can add another...

You've all been very helpful...unfortunally that wasn't the answer I wanted to hear, lol. I would have loved to get all my phones with $100 off, but oh well, every company is different. I think that cingular is better mostly because I know more about Cingular as a company than Verizon. I'd rather not mess with rebates, so I might renew my phones online, but does anyone know, is this process confusing if I want to add a new line of service. I know that cingular's website gets a little confusing in this area (I should know, I'm in the web promotions/migrations department lol)

I'm not sure on that. I've personally never done it. I don't really know how easy it is to do all that at once online. It could require a few different steps. I THINK the retail store may have instant rebates like the website does... or on some phone? I'm not really to sure about that though.

Well - upgrading on the website isn't too tricky, but if adding a new line it will require a separate step. This can get tricky especially if you're planning to add it as a secondary line on a family share plan. For the adding a new line part I would call Telesales and have it done over the phone. As far as the instant vs. mail-in rebate difference online, a sales rep can give you the rebate i...

It does sound a little tricky to do over the internet. I might just take some notes before going down to a store so I know what I'm talking about. I didn't work for a cell phone company when I started with Verizon, and I think that will help me get the best deal, this time around. Any other helpful tips when dealing with a Verizon store?

CAVEAT: Something that hasn't been mentioned yet is that if you signed up for vzw after a specific date [it's some date in late Nov 2003], you only have six months to use your New Every Two credit. After that, you lose the $100 credit, even to your primary phone. I know this because I signed up for Verizon about two days AFTER the six month deadline went into effect [users before this date are grandfathered in and can use the New Every Two ANY time after the two years are up]. Doesn't sound like an issue for you, since you sound about ready to purchase. But if you're going to wait, be warned.
