Lime Q on Verizon

I know it's a stupid request, but I really really want the lime phone from Alltel for my Verizon phone line. I understand the phone industry fairly well (I worked for At&t for four years as a warranty exchange rep) and I'm certain it probably isn't possible; however, a girl can wish right?

I know they are merging (I noticed Alltel is now included in the m2m)...does this mean I should hold out for some of their phones too? Does anyone know if that aspect of the merger will happen soon?

I might have to just give up hope and go with the black phone. ☹️

M'am, there was no merger. Verizon BOUGHT Alltel.

The proper word is acquisition if we're all going to be proper about our business terminology.

The way most people say it though, mergers includes acquisitions even though its not technically correct.

You can activate AllTel ESNs on VZW. If the ESN is not in the DB, someone will have to add it into the db first. Other than that, there should be no problem.

Even though the other posts were rude, I do agree that the Moto Q is not a good phone.

The other responses were extremely rude. I reported the overly rude responses (and they were deleted). I'm sorry you are so maticulous about your terminology...however, the result is still the same from a consumer pov.

I understand the issues with the Q. However, I believe it's the only phone with Verizon right now that meets my needs. Which are: a phone with the capability to connect to my Microsoft Outlook (for calendar reasons), full keyboard, relatively small, and absolutely no internet. I don't want to pay for it and I definately don't need it.
If there is another phone you feel will meet these concerns, feel free to suggest it.

meticulous, no, I just prefer true information being put out there. It was not a merger...it was a purchase or yes, an acquisition.

That being said, you might look at the Q9c (if you can still find one.

Going forward, any new data device will be required to have the additional data service attached...

I feel your pain. Trying to get a decent phone with calendar functionality, qwerty, and NO internet out of Verizon is apparently like pulling teeth...They don't feel there's a market for it although imho there clearly is (or you wouldn't have all these posters asking for a phone WITHOUT data plan). The Palm Centro is smaller and you can still get that without data, but the tiny keyboard does bother some. If it doesn't bother you, it's probably a more reliable phone than the Q. My daughter's got completely wet and it is still working perfectly...

Even if you get it activated on the VZW network, there will be problems with your billing, you will not be able to use all of the features on the phone. It is not a vzw branded phone, therefore you will run into a lot of problems. The phone may not program and you will have to do a manual program to the phone. There maybe a lot of problems trying to activate the phone. You may have to wait until they approve open access and the merger is completed.

What problems other than no OTA PRL update is there?

Simply take it to a store and they can load the PRL on there for you. No big deal.

They can not load the PRL into the phone from the store. But try it at your own risk.......
