The story behind the laggy Storm & shortages
Essentially, the Verizon Storm was set to launch with an OS higher than 4.7.0.65. The boxes handed out at the Verizon media event on Tuesday in NYC (where all those reviewers picked theirs up) actually have stickers on them that show 4.7.0.82. Yet the devices were actually loaded with the .65 OS. Did you purchase a Storm today? Take a look at the sticker on your box. If you peel it off, you'll see one beneath for 4.7.0.82. Right before the Storm was set to ship en mass, a security glitch was caught in the OS that prompted a hault of shipment. With no time to release a newer, updated OS, the Storm's that made the stores for today's launch were simply a limited number of units that were reprovisioned with an older OS, versio...

I went to three VZW stores in my area...all sold out. How long might I have to wait to get one, and to know it has the latest software version?

You will have to wait until 12/15 according to VZW.com
If it doesnt have the latest software when you get it (and It should) then you can get it easily over the air when its released.
yes stores will still help you with tech support etc as long as its a VZW phone, doesnt matter really where you got it.
30 day return policy from the date you activate it. ordering online is easy.
However, the OS definitely did not ship with the final version.
The Storms I have used did not suffer the same issues reported by everyone else. there definitely is a learning curve to the new touchscreen.
Personally, I pretty much doubt you have anything more to offer than "I can not divulge." What was the point for you to say ANYTHING then?

I used to be big Nokia fan until recently. Their older basic phones were amazing, but now their newer phones just suck. No wonder Nokia is losing it's grip on the world
I returned it for a very expensive N96 thinking I was getting the device to rule all of the devices... ugh! It's loaded with features but the build quality was horrible. The actual device felt as cheap as the non-working dummy phone. It would have been a decent device for $300, but for $800?? No way, no how.
I love Nokia and hope they step u...
