My daughter is considering going to college in Canada (Vancouver, BC), we live in Massachusetts.
a. what kind of coverage would she get?
b. will she need a "world phone"?
c. are there reasonably priced service plans for families split across national borders?
thanks!

you can look up coverage here http://www.bell.ca/support/PrsCSrvWls_Cvg_Tra vel.page
she will not need a world phone.
The prices for current basic family plans that include coverage in canada are $20 a month above what a consumer would pay for a plan covering the USA.
Best of luck as you decide which service would be the cheapest.

I agree with this post. I also live in MA and do a lot of trave in Canada. I pay an extra $20/month however I don't believe this includes data . I believe that the data plan was very expensive. Good luck.

There is a canadian plan that will have no roaming (otherwise .69/min) or long distance charges (.49/min or less). There are single line plans 450 minutes @ 59.99/month or higher. There are also family plans 700 mins @ 89.99/month for first 2 lines + 9.99/month for any additional lines. With both of these plans they would receive 1000 night and weekend mins and 1000 unl vzw to vzw calling and if on a family plan they would be shared between all the lines. in calling (vzw to vzw) is only available if you are in the united states not in canada so It would pull from the nights or peak minutes
