When will the merger be complete?
So is it likley that the Alltel Verizon merger will be completed by years end?

Your guess is as good as anyone elses. Verizon wants the merger to be done by the end of the year but still waiting on the FCC and DOJ. The FCC votes tomorrow on much of it. So keep your ears and eyes open for the results of that.

There's not going to be a date set for a long time, they're still both two different carriers that compete much like the remaining CellularOne cusomers.

Yeah I agree with you both on this. I work in a heavy "notel" area and I am getting tired of people coming in every day asking about it. I try to inform them with as much info as possible and they just look at me like I am speaking german to them. Why ask if you dont want to know the real answer??

We had a customer in the earlier this week, he is an Alltel customer and was having problems with his phone, he was pretty frustrated and was speaking with a corporate manager there, get this...manager said that we (Verizon) will warranty his Alltel phone because we're (Alltel and Verizon) all the same now. We sent the customer right back to that manager.

They want it done by the end of the year. But have to keep in mind that folks are worried about competition. So stay tuned.
