Just one of the reasons I quit working at Verizon Wireless!!!

PITTSBURGH, Pennsylvania (AP) -- The head of a prominent cancer research institute issued an unprecedented warning to his faculty and staff Wednesday: Limit cell phone use because of the possible risk of cancer.
The issue that concerns some scientists -- though nowhere near a consensus -- is electromagnetic radiation.

The issue that concerns some scientists -- though nowhere near a consensus -- is electromagnetic radiation.

The warning from Dr. Ronald B. Herberman, director of the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute, is contrary to numerous studies that don't find a link between cancer and cell phone use, and a public lack of worry by the U.S. Food and Drug Admi...

Plus, using fewer trees and recycling.

It also helps to play "It's The New Mother Nature Takin' Over" song from The Guess Who.

Let me get this straight - They have studies that SUGGEST that cell phones may lead to cancer (again, nothing has ever been definitively proven) and expect people to use their phones less? These are the same people who have had anti-cigarette commercials played on their tv's for the last two decades with scientific proof that cigarettes DO cause cancer, and they watch those commercials with a cigarette in their mouth. Yeah... good luck with that 🙂

Before there was proof that cigarettes cause cancer, there were "studies that suggest" the link.

Perhaps 20 years from now, it will be as much of a known fact...and lots of people will ignore it. It's the "it won't happen to me" mentality.

My theory on it? Plan for a lot of closed-casket funerals so no one gets grossed out by the large cancerous knob on the side of their loved one's head!

At least a cell phone gives some benefit, and doesn't poison everyone in the room (although everyone may get pissed at the clown yelling into his AT&T phone!).

What I find funny is all the people who are soooo worried about getting cancer from their cell phone so they use a bluetooth headset... If a cell phone could cause cancer so can a WIRELESS headset, how do they think it communicates with their phone? If you looked hard enough you could find that driving your car can cause cancer too. Some people are a little bit crazy. 🤣

Um.. a headset is generally measured in microwattage, where a phone is .6 watts of power.

Yes, the headset produces FAR LESS radiation.. but youre not melting your brain by using a cell phone.

What ever happened to those people living near those high power lines back in the 90's........

Oh thats right, they all died.

every technology has its fear moment....I hear those new lights have traces of that dreaded mercury we used to roll in our hands in Science class back in the 60's LOL

Oh and Im guessing the "Ozone Layer" has closed up too....We were all supposed to die from that back in the 70's because of hairspray......Global cooling was the all the rage then too......

People sure are gullible........(See Verizon)

so that means: CB radios and certain models of 2-way radios that use at least 1 watt of power or more would be more dangerous?

the media is the source of all fear, everybody has a cell phone so why not talk about the dangers of that...very few people have CB radios anymore and 2-way radios are an "endangered species" so the media won't mention that. And some of those devices actually come with a little label about excessive exposure! haha I'm one of the few people that has some of the newer models of 2-way walkie-talkie and it had a warning about it being at 1 watt power broadcast
