I just switched to VZW w/ the Glyde and its a pretty nice phone but the screen is just not responsive enough will it get any better w/ software update? Anyone hear if there will be one soon? If not some suggestions for a crackberry. Like the Curve but the Pearl is nice too.

Dump the glyde and get a curve. The prices are about the same the curve is a much better phone than the glyde. I've read a lot of complaints about the touch screen on the glyde. And what good is a touch screen phone if the touch screen doesn't work.

Don't wait for a software update, because you have no idea if it will even address the touchscreen, get a new phone now while you're still within your 30 day trial.

Listen to Cwcanty, he is very knowledgeable. I had to exchange my glyde in less than 24 hours because the screen was very unresponsive, so i went with the voyager.

Cwcanty, what other phones would you suggest? I heard Verizon was getting the palm centro...what are you thoughts about this phone?

yogi,

it really depends on what your looking for in a phone. I love my curve right now, and I think blackberry makes some of the best smartphones for overall stability and ease of use.

The centro should be a pretty solid device. I have used the phone a little bit, but it was the sprint version that my friend had. I like the phone and the form factor (except for the tiny keys). I read that the verizon centro was supposed to be less buggy than the 755p, but who knows with Palm.

I used to have the Glyde, but exchanged it within a week for the env2. My screen only worked 70% of the time ... the other 30%, it wouldn't recognize my finger, or when I tap it a certain place on the screen it will select something completely different.

I'm not a fan. I've accepted the fact that the best touch-screen based phone is the Apple iPhone. Until something rivals it, I am going all buttons.

I had the same problems with my glyde. It wasnt very responsive and it would click a button completely opposite of what I was trying to tap. I traded mine for the LG VX-9400 and I love it. I think I just got the phone too soon, I got it on the day it came out and I think Verizon just needs to work out the glitches.

The Centro is gonna be a sweet device with Verizon. I actually had a chance to play with it for a bit a while ago. If I'm not mistaken it may be REV A capabile.. but don't quote me on that part. I know verizon's centro is getting an enhanced attenna. It should be a sold device.... with palm software

I'll stick to my curve 🙂

Cwcanty, I went on with the voyager after exchanging the glyde with 1 day of use. I was tired of the flip phones so I went with the voyager.

I am thinking of getting something like the palm centro after Verizon gets it. My question is, will I have to sign up to a data package or can I just use it without it; since I wont be using it to its full capacity?

You do not have to sign up for the data package (although the device would be $50-$100 more expensive than advertised if you don't get it). However, you will be charged per MB if you incur any data transferring. To put a complete halt on it, I'd advise blocking the internet.
