IF you only have $60 bucks for a phone you are most likely on a budget. In that case T Mobile has the better rates as well. You can save a few bucks.

Never get the cheap phone, they don't last. The phone manufacturers (nothing to do with the carrier)do not install the same quality of componants into a $200 phone (retail) as a $300 phone. Look at the relative retail costs and how old the model is. Even if it has features you might not use, go for the best phone you can afford. Especially if you plan on using a lot of minutes or text. The bargain basement phones are not made for moderate to heavy use and will wear out. Usually shortly after the warrenty.

i am a heavy texter. by 60 bucks i mean after rebates and alltel.com has a few $200+ phones for 60 bucks or less after rebates with 2 year subscription. i haven't checked what verizon has "in store".
t mobile is out of the question for me as i am rural and when i go to my moms place it is even more rural. ie verizon has only 1 or 2 bars at moms house. alltel roams on verizon and maybe usc. usc is the big thing up there.
