I looked there but all it has is how to block messages from the website or from emails, there's a way to block a certain number by calling or texting something and then the phone number to block them and then you can do it again to unblock, i've read it before but now that i want it i can't find it

well the system won't do it but certain phones will allow you to block/ restrict Text and calls. go into your phone menu go to settings and tool...... security (the code should be the last 4#'s of your phone number unless you changed it.) then go to restrictions. Some phones have the option where you can only allow incoming or outgoing to the contact list. this may solve your problem. If your phone doesn't have that feature it's time to get a new one! 🙂 gl

the text block in the phone blocks all text completely. you can not block a certain number on any phone. not even the new phones.

check out some new phones you can set it up so that it onlyl allows #'s that are in your contact list. therefore blocking all other numbers. not perfect but better than what's out there.

Most Samsungs do this. Unfortunately, it's an "opt in" type service, not an "opt out" so unless you never, ever get calls from people you don't already have programmed into your contact list this wouldn't work. I'd imagine it'd be a wonderful way to corral teenagers though.

yes it has been a great answer for parents with bad behavior teenagers, and you may mis out on some calls that are out of the norm. because of the block. but if this is possible give it a year and you'll be able to save specific numbers that cannot be called are recieved.

you cant block txt or calls from a specific number, but i love how ppl on here will tell you that you can.

to those of you who tell ppl they can do stuff that isnt possible, and most of the time you know its not possible, way to do them a disservice and make this site useless for them. they come here for info because they dont know the answer. if you dont know, keep ur mouth shut and def dont tell them the flat out wrong answer

I was unaware that you could no longer block numbers from texting you, you used to be able to do it on vtext.com (10-15 numbers). We weren't ever informed that you couldn't do this any more. Unfortunately things aren't always communicated the best going down the line and reps may not realize they have the wrong answer. There is really no reason to be a jerk about it just correct them and move on. I have been doing this for 4+ years and feel like I know pretty much everything but I though you still could block numbers from texting you. Instead of making a big deal out of it just correct them and move on, we all learn from each other and it doesn't help by making a deal out of nothing.

people here are elitist bastards. get off your high horse.

anyway. yes, you can block texts by MTNs via vtext.com when I first started with VZW about 3 and a half years ago. they obviously changed it. why? the hell if i know. was anyone informed? obviously not.

You have never been able to do this, not 3 years ago and not now. It used to be that vtext would not generate an error message when you tried this but it never, ever actually worked. And apologies for others getting snippy but it really does get frustrating to realize that coworkers are so uncurious about their job that they never bothered to test something like this for 3+ years.

Okay... One workaround. The texter's email address. 10digits@vtext.com for Verizon wireless peeps, some other domain name for other service providers. Hope that helps.

Actually it did work 3 years ago, I blocked an ex boyfriend and not by using phonenumber@vtext.com (that only blocks someone from texting you from vtext.com). I was able to do it at vtext.com with just putting the phone number in, this however did not work with short codes. I understand how it is frustrating that people give out wrong info but that doesn't make them uncurious about their job. Just because myself or someone else hasn't tried blocking a number on vtext.com in a while doesn't mean we are uncurious. There are so many things out there that we need to make sure we are informing ourselves about to stay current with VZW and the wireless industry that I don't think to go a double check vtext.com every few months to make sure I can st...
