I'm at odds between these two phones. My contract is up and I've narrowed my selection down to these two. Any sound advice will greatly be appreciated.

Why those two? The Razr 2 is eh...the Rizr (or Z6) is meh. Neither are spectacularly wonderful phones but it depends on what you want to use them for.

I'm using them as a phone and txting. I went in the store and all the other flip phones felt cheap to me. These two seemed more sturdy. Both phones received 4 out of 5 on phonescoop. Do you have any other suggestions?

You want to do texting....with a Razr2.........wow. The enV doesn't feel cheap (and it's on sale). The "alias" doesn't feel cheap. And they are designed for texting. I would suggest looking at those. Make sure you go to an actual corporate store and not an "authorized retailer" to guarantee you get the full lineup.

I looked at the env and I don't like the shortness of it when using it as a phone, the keyboard is nice but not a necessity for me. i like a device that i can use with one hand.

Then if I were you...I'd wait for a few weeks. There are plenty of phones slated for launch in the second quarter. There's nothing "spectacular" right now out. Patience is a virtue.

I agree. I've used Motorola for years and had good experience with all them...except the V710, that one sucked. The E815 made up for it 🙂 I've noticed that Motorola usually has more internal memory and better camera quality compaired to other makers, also great reception. They make their batteries pretty good. The Razr 2 has short battery life mainly because it's so thin, not because its junk. But Verizon sells an extended battery on their website, in the accessories section. If you compair the Razr 2 with the LG 8350 you'll see that the Razr 2 (770 mAh) has longer battery life even though the LG has a bigger battery (1000 mAh). But thats what the web says. I haven't the time or money to buy both and compair for myself haha. As...

If you must pick a phone now, get the RIZR (Z6). That phone is probably the best current phone that VZW has right now. Some would say it's the E815 reincarnate.

I take offense to that. I am a so-called "authorized retailer," and we carry all the phones. And know just as much about them as the corporate store does. And I bet ya we're a lot more friendly too!

Don't take offense. There are authorized retailers that do not carry all models throughout the country. There are authorized retailers throughout the country that lie and manipulate the customers. I'm not saying ALL are that way...I'm just saying you're guaranteed to have the full selection of phones at a corporate store.

I'd pick the Rizr, I like the form factor better. It seems "cool" to me.

Other than that, I'd wait. VZW has phones coming out the next 2 months.

I understand that phones are on there way, but I need a phone NOW! My samsung i600 is dead as a door knob. I'm a simple person, I don't need the internet, email, or all that other stuff. I need go quality, reception, a good camera (I have kids), and still look somewhat nice when people see me talking on it.

Rizr then. It's aesthetics appeal to me. You can still text, same good camera as the razr2, and the size is more convenient than the flat but big razr2.

That's what I was thinking, plus it gives me the option of mobile tv, plus it's cheaper!

If you want to look "cool" using it...go for the LG VX9400. It's still an "oooo ahhh" phone because of the swivel screen. Good for text and a great phone. Mine's done me well for the past year.

Isn't that a pain dialing a number? having to swivel to dial and swivel back to talk?

nope...it's actually very easy to do with one hand. Plus if you use bluetooth, it's no hassle at all. Plus, when you swivel it out, it gets people's attention. I've had many people (even a year later) still think it's cool. Plus it's small and the screen is viewable outside...well...atleast better than some other phones. As for the camera...it has taken great pix. TV is fun...for a lil while until the Price is Right is over.

I average about 3000 per month...and I don't use predictive text. You feel every click of the keys and it's nice.

I'll check it out tomorrow. I don't think I'll like it over the RIZR. The slide feature just seems simplier.

I'm going with the RIZR! It's easier to handle with one hand, than the RAZR2, it has all the capabilities that the razr has plus it gives me the mobile tv option. The keypad isn't as narrow as the k1m which helps. Did I miss anything?

The charging port & memory card port are easier to access too.
