Activating a non-vzw handset (? for corp store reps)
I work in CS so I haven't come across any of these scenarios yet.
Has anyone seen a customer been able to active a non-vzw handset? It's been, what nearly a month, since this first came out. What is everyone's experience with this? Has a customer received a phone back from the warehouse flashed w/ VZW s/w yet?
Just wondering how that is coming along

They don't flash it with the software. They just verify that it will work and not degridate the network.

I activated a ntelos razr about 6 months ago. If the esn is loaded you can change it over to it. I just had to manually program it, then the ota went through just fine.

I wonder if the South Korean CDMA version of the LG Prada works on Verizon's network?

As long as it has CDMA 850 and/or 1900...

Hmmmm, i'm gonna keep searching online. I used to have links to website that showed the specs of the CDMA Prada but it was on my old computer that crashed. 😡

I seem to recall that it won't. Besides, since VZW doesn't have the ESN in it's database, you're probably SOL.

At the press conference for Any Device, they said anything compatible with the network would work. So as long as it has either CDMA 850 or 1900, then you're good. But you'd probably have to mail it away for 3 weeks so they can test it.

Yeah, the 3 week thing.
...
The three week thing is currently only for devices that are required to be able to be activated on the network due to a lawsuit in california. In the future, once open access is put into place, the manufacturers will send a device into be tested. If it meets minimum standards then you can purchase it from the manufacturer once it is offered by them.
