i had a samsung i700 which i had been using with verizon for about a year. recently i bought another pda, the i730, and got it activated (from a gowireless verizon store). aight so i go into a corporate verizon store because for some reason i have been getting charged for a data plan which i did not sign up for. come to find out that the guy at the gowireless store somehow signed me up for this data plan which i did not authorize. the guy at the verizon store was helpful and removed the data plan (he also said they are moving to where all pda's have to have a data plan...any thoughts on that?). now i understand that this was not verizon's fault but gowireless is contracted to sell their service right? anyways the guy was like yo...

Why would you go to a gowirless verizon store? Verizon is just losing it.

It was your fault. Verizon is bad but going to a independent makes it your fault.

i'd still go after gowireless. its salesmen (scammers) like that that make me hate the wireless and sales industries. i dont understand why people will put services and charges on accounts without asking permission first. do they think that they will never get caught? as for the cust ser rep, that typical of any carrier, meaning that you asked her to do something that either she didnt know how to do or didnt want to do at the time, so she fed you a bullish excuse and got you off her line.

i know that i cant sell any pda without a data plan. i only have BB's and they have the cheapest data plans out there, but i understand where you are coming from. a lot of my customers want a pearl but they dont want the data plan b/c they arent going t...

PDA's can be activated without a data plan with the exception of Blackberry. A Treo, Q9M, 6800, whatever can be on a pay as you go. No cost unless you use it. If you use it, you're pretty much screwed though. it's 1.5 cents/kb and trust me it adds up unbelieveably fast. And data pacakages cannot be backdated to get you out of trouble. I always recommend an unlimited plan for the first two months to see how much you're using, then adjust from there. It's not because I want you to waste money, it's because i've seen a $6000 phone bill because someone didn't have a data package and decided to use the internet and email anyway.

Also, please don't sell a Blackberry to someone who does not own a computer. They have no way to back up their ...

Its true people get screwed all the time by independent stores. Amazon screws people everyday when you buy a cell phone from them.

If I where you I would always use corporate stores or walmart. That's one company you can trust.

I'm not trying to be an apologist by any means, but whenever you put a PDA and/or BB onto an account, the computer system (at least the one indirects use, eROES) adds the unlimited data package automatically. So, it is quite easy for a new rep that's just learning how to do things (we train our new hires on simply things, like esn changes first for example) could have easily missed adding the data package on. Of course, any properly trained rep would immediately try to talk you into getting the data plan, so if you then didn't want the plan it wouldn't be a big deal. Obviously, it is quite hard to prove that you did not want the data plan if it was already on your account for a while, unfortunately for the rest of us, there are many peopl...

i have been with verizon for over 4 yrs and i have also been in the service industry and i understand what you are saying. working in the service industry i have learned one thing its really hard to get compensated for a mistake however that was not my intention. grant it i would like some money back because adding stuff to a plan without the customers consent is obiously not a good practice. and about the untrained the employees, i get it but the guy that helped me was the manager of the gowireless store. i have nothing against privately owned stores, (they create competition...which is good) i have had very good experience with these people. they first time i got a pda i got it activated from a gowireless and nothing like this happened.

mdhaliwal- Every now and then you get a person who may not know what they are doing or may not care. In this case you got two in a row- indirect agent and customer service. Callback and escalate the issue if necessary. If Verizon cannot resolve this then escalate it to the indirect store. Carriers pay indirect agents for commission for these products. They may have a form they do indeed have to fill out to get their money back.
Callback and get it resolved or give up after you are satisfied with the answer they give you.

There is a form for features being added without consent. I've never used it so I can honestly say I don't know what's on it or what the turn around time is.

Indirects aren't all bad, there is a reason for them, and I tend to like to work with them when they call. I think a lot of Verizon employees get worked up about the indirects because so many of them sell more than one service and misquote information because they get confused.

Dealing with indirects can be fine, just be sure you read the receipt/contract. All the included features or add ons should be listed on there. That's your clue if something's wrong so you can address it easily at the time instead of after the next bill.

The credit, as I understand it, would be appli...

thanks guys this information is very helpful. i just felt betrayed and did what any consumer would do, let as many people know about my problem. i have no problem with either gowireless or verizon. infact verizon has given me the best satisfaction out of all the other carriers, aleast you dont have the problem of another carriers tower picking up your signal and get charged $800 on an unlimited plan and have a customer service rep tell you that they cant do anything about it (thanks...cingular). i will follow up with another call to verizon as well as the gowireless store and see what result i come up with.
