A few scratches is not a reason to be dishonest, don't make things up it raises prices for everyone!

b/c you suggested dishonesty in your initial post. that's called fraud. Employees don't like fraud, b/c it bites us in the a$$, and therefore raises prices. Pay full retail for a new phone, or get an insurance replacement. If you don't want a scratched one, you might've thought ahead and not scratched your current one, so you wouldn't be needing a replacement.

or there's ebay. good luck.

I could care less if you do it or not. But you came into a verizon forum which consits of a lot of employees asking how to cheat the system.

Not our problem. My cousin dropped it in the toilet, I get a free one right? And no, everyone does not get phones for dishonesty. There are exchanges for phones with problems that fall under warranty. Wanting a phone that's not scratched is not a problem. You're just going to scratch the new one.

It's not even a Verizon employee thing. It's a general 'people trying to screw the wireless industry' thing.

If your phone WORKS it is stealing to imply it does not. No one insures vs scratches.

A phone is not a fashion statement. Its a phone, a tool. I have never heard of a carpenter looking for a shiny hammer. But then again he peobably likes girls and all that.

People are getting upset with you because you have your hand out. You started this thread with

"hey so my old phone was the chocolate 8550 and its all scratched and stuff and i was wondering if you could tell me ideas on how to make up a problem so they can give me a new phone in the store like a replacement device?? bc i want one with no scratches and everything? thanks in advance!!"

The only reason your a VIP customer is because you generally pay your bill on time and contribute at least 80.00 a month in revenue. You are looking for something for nothing, you don't deserve a replacement phone.

I almost garuntee you live in the North East area. If you want a phone without scratches then you should have taken care of your phone o...

it raisesp[rices bc you're getting another phone for free. just think if every customer called in and did that. how much money would vzw be spending??? it would be a lot right? well then theyd have to raise their prices. therefore costing you more in the long run.

nobody in this forum will give you the answer you want. replacement phones are for people that have defects with their phone and not your sister or whoever scratching it up. scratches are not considered a defect and thats why prices for legitimate replacements and phones in general will go up. so you are stuck with a phone that has scratches on it. get over it and quit acting childish live with your mistakes

What is that suppose to mean, that isn't a very cool statement. There are good and bad apples in every aspect of life, saying verizon is the shadiest is just silly.

You can get a replacement free of charge as long as the problems are just wear and tear, and physical damage.

that's not correct, under the terms of the FRU (field replacement unit) which is verizon's warranty system, mere cosmetic damage is not eligible for warranty, the rep dealing with the FRU has to find a viable reason for sending out a replacement device, unless you can convince a rep that your phone is suffering a manufacturers defect, they will not send you a phone (or in the case of a corporate store, swap it out). physical damage is actually expressly listed as a factor that would nullify your warranty immediately, of course if i see a phone that is a little scuffed i will of course warranty it, but if the phone is extremely disfigured/physically broken, or has suffered water damage then it is obviously not under warranty -basically its a ...

Doesn't matter what story you tell, physical damage supercedes any claim you may have.

It can always be construed that the damage was the catalyst for whatever issue you may be claiming.

For example:
Once, a customer returned a phone in 3 pieces and wanted it replaced. We told him nooooooo way. He said "it was defective before I threw it. I threw it at the wall because it was defective."

Now ho...

From my experience I have NEVER had a customer charged for physical damage when the phone was covered in scratches. That in my opinion is just ware and tare. Keeping my phone in my purse gets scratches all over it. I don't know if at the stores the techs make an issue out of scratches but I think unless the phone has gouges in it scratches are no big deal.

But if there is NO issue with the phone itself?

If the tech can't duplicate an "issue" then the phone doesn't qualify for warranty exchange just because of scratches.

You're right though, scratches are a judgement call. I was telling a story that was in the more extreme.

the only way to get a malfunction on a functioning phone is to deliberately break it. good luck on getting that exchanged.
