I don't really like either one of those. I would look at the XV6800 or a Blackberry if you're looking into getting a smart phone.

I went through two Flipshots in about two weeks. The phone itself is really good, but the pictures look like ass if you plan on transferring them to a computer. Everything else about it is great.

Motorola Q9m sucks. Don't waste your time or money. XV6800 is a mini laptop, I'm sure you don't need all of that. The Blackberry is an emailing machine, awesome smart phone, but does require a data plan because of its push technology.

So really, you should be comparing the 5800 or the Blackberry. I think the 5800 is a pretty sweet device. I'm considering upgrading to that.

Well, after going to the local Verizon store and playing around with the phones, I ended up choosing the q9m. Since I am not using it for documents to go or as an email beast, I dont experience any major lag. It is customizable to my liking and overall it has a fairly large volume of compatible software with WM6. Thank you all for your feedback, but for me after playing with a few different phones the q9m seems to be a winner for me 🙂

I'm really interested in the 5800. I think it does everything I need a PDA to do without the exorbitant cost.

I'd agree. $199 is not bad. 😎

Despite what all the LG lovers say, the 9M is a nice phone. You won't find better RF and audio quality than Moto, despite a lackluster array of phones.

Agreed, despite the low battery life (all pda phones have this issue) I really love my q9m. I am way more productive in sending text messages and have had minimal to no problems. The learning curve on this phone took a day or two, but once I figured out the settings it was extremely easy to pick up and use. I would recommend this phone to anyone looking for a PDA/smartphone for text messaging and great call quality 🙂

I'm at the same decision point - initial review Q9M or 5800. I've been on a work Treo and love the smartphone but thought the Palm and windows 5.0 a bit buggy (weekly resets, a co-worker has daily resets, random system changes, like time contantly changing to Greenland). Been a little tentative to jump into the Blackberry cult. Leaning Q9M.

love more commentary.

I have the 5800 and I love it. compact and easy to use. Hasn't been buggy at all. The size was a big factor for me. I had the black moto q and I am enjoying this phone far more. The camera is the only feature I'm taking a little while to get used to. Call quality is solid. The qwerty keyboard is very nice on it. I'd recommend the 5800

I'd say the 5800. Great phone but also has the data options. The form factor is great and the sound quality seems better than the Q9.

oh yeah battery life is still pretty weak on the Qs.
