Verizon and thier lies...

DSFB407

I know this title will catch the eye of many and hence through my experience through the past few days u will know why i chose it...

I knew from reading peoples threads and replies on this website and many others the people know what is going on with companies, their policy's, and phones. That is why i don't understand why companies such as verizon lie to their customers...I called Verizon the other day and asked them about thier bluetooth phone the V710 and asked information about it such as what can it do, functions, capabilities and so on...They told me everything that it had to offer and must have read word for word what was on the web site...Then i asked them why is it that Verizon has stripped the Bluetooth capabilities of this ph...

because spelling it the most important thing when trying to get your point across.

And honestly, I'm still not seeing a retort or his actual statements...all you've got is "you spelled (word) wrong."

What else can be said. This thread subject has been discussed over and over. As a rep I cannot change the policy of the powers that be that made the decision to cripple the bluetooth functions in the v710. I have no secret inside information as to why it was done and if a customer calls to complain about it all I can do is apologize and try to do right for the customer. But the information pertaining to this problem has been posted within the forum and else where that if a customer buys the phone now for the bluetooth function and gets upset because it has been limited, then shame on them for not doing any research.

I usually got a call about Blue Tooth, atleast once or twice. The whole time I was with the company. Almost 18 months. So you really expect the average rep to know about this feature. No!

Me too Volvo. I also have only got two calls about Bluetooth with the past year. The first was about setting up the headset and the other was about OBEX.

To address your point..yes, some of the "features" of this phone have been disabled by VZW. The most common reason that functions are disabled by the company is related to performance. The phone has these "features" offered by the manufacturer, who by the way just wants to sell the product. However the "features" likely didn't meet VZW specs in testing phases. Instead of holding the phone back completely the company decides to release the phone without all of the available "features" with the intention that the manufacturer will correct the "features" and provide a software upgrade. I tend to agree that maybe the phones shouldn't be released at all if they don't meet quality standards, however you would likely not see some of this great...

It is funny how the first thing that you commented on was me mispelling one word "VZCSREP"...Typical VWCS rep, you ask a question and state information and they play dumb and act like they know nothing at all when you commonly talk to how many people with complaints a day?...You cant get anything out of them unless you beat it out of them or harass them and then after all of that, MAYBE and i mean just maybe you might get some information out of them...Oh and by the way i did do some research by calling CS reps just like yourself MR./MS. VZCSREP and to get information...wait a question to self...hmmm...Isn't the whole basis of research is to go to a "Reliable" source such as a calling a CSRep who "has gone through more training then any othe...

DSFB47:

First, please understand that I am just a consumer, a Verizon Wireless subscriber who did his homework and chose an Audiovox CDM9900 instead of the Motorola V710, and am not employed in any way in the cellular industry.

While I understand your dissatisfaction with the Motorola V710's bluetooth capabilities when used in Verizon's network, I also feel that you may have entered into your twenty-one telephone conversations with a very large chip on your shoulder. If so, you probably received less-than-satisfactory responses.

I got that clue from your statement: "...I then called Motorola who i should have called before buying the phone and they told me that they were sorry on behalf of Verizon's pure selfishness to make m ...

Sorry, as much as i disklike verizon and it's "HIT ONE FOR THE HOME TEAM!" stuff, I'm gonna have to agree with f38urry. This guy is an idiot. He's trying to pull his argument onto his side and most likley making up his CS experiences.

It's not like people don't do it...I had a lady call in with an error on her bill and fixed it for her, no problem, nice as could be...suddenly she requests a sup to "complain" that i was swearing at the and abusing her and refusing to credit anything until she requested a sup.

I have no sympathy for this guy.

After getting through only a third of your post, I immediately chalked you up as a nothing more than a whiner. Based on your clear lack of spelling, grammer, and anything else that resembles intelligence, I can only assume that you probably stretched the truth a bit here.

But you generated responses, which I'm assuming is all you intended to do in the first place. Way to go!

I do not know if the truth was stretched but the critical issue if all is true would be that the reps did not know of the status of the v710 functionality. To that issue, I wonder if reps might comment on what direct VZW additional training they have had concerning the phone's functionality?

I agree the issue regarding the crippling is over but what remains is the knowledge base the reps are provided directly by VZW.

the thing is that i did a little research and called 3 times a day for 1 whole week and spoke to 21 different people
That's nearly as bad as the number of posts I make on this website. We all know that Verizon cripples their data offerings. It's old news. Quit your griping.

i think he is complaining about the employees acting all dumb about not knowing. how can they sell a bluetooth phone, giving the customer the expectations that it will work like a bluetooth phone?
in his post he explains that the phone has been out since sept, but he was sold the phone anyway???
verizon salespeople go through all this training, if you all know verizon cripples their bluetooth phones, aren't they not being truthful when they sell them??

All one has to do is read any website that carries coverage of that particular phone to tell if it meets your needs.

I have a cell phone. I can make and receive calls. I can also take pictures and go on the web once in a while to check the news when I am bored, which is really cool. I bought a cell phone years ago so I could make phone calls when I am not at home. That's why I still have a cell phone today. Do I really need anything more? No. Did you people get along with bluetooth before there was such a thing? I think so.

Seriously. I completely agree with you. I think the bluetooth argument/CS reps not knowing is getting old and needs to be put to rest. If you folks really want bluetooth with all its functions...switch to a carrier that doesn't cripple their handsets. Why stay with VZW when ...

The title of your post is inaccurate. On the box of the phone, and on the Verizon Wireless product page it lists the Bluetooth profiles available on the phone. There's even a Bluetooth FAQ that explains that only three profiles are currently allowed on this phone, although they are reviewing a possibility of a software flash allowing other profiles.

Additionally, you had 15 days to try the phone and return it.

At what point were you lied to?

There's a pretty big difference between getting a rep who doesn't know the difference between a phone with full bluetooth and limited bluetooth profiles and someone telling you complete fiction about the phone.

Bluetooth is basically a short range wireless network protocol, like the 80211.b found in many homes.

What on earth is Verizon trying to do by controlling the devices I have in my home, that have nothing to do with their CDMA network?

ok, it's simple, isn't it? verizon makes money when you transfer data over their network, no? if you had some way around that that hurts their bottom line. like it or not it's that simple.
