BB Pearl - online discount ?

What makes someone eligible for this discount?

I've called Verizon a dozen times and they all give me their best fairy tale explanation.

I;m up for the upgrade and I get the 2-year agreement pricing. For some reason, I can't get the additional online discount of $100.00...WHY?
I got it on the xv6800 (which i returned).

What am I not understanding?

the 100$ online discount is in place of the mail in rebate. the BB pearl comes with a 100$ mail in rebate. if you order it thru CS or in a store you get the 100$ mail in rebate. if you order online you get an instant 100$ online discount (rebate)

the price is the same either way, just one is mail in.

So shouldn't it apply instantly as it did when I had previously ordered the 6800?

After adding it into the shopping cart, it doesn't give me any discount aside from the 2-year agreement price.

I disagree. The online discount is the advanced data discount for getting unlimited data. When you buy a PDA online they are pricing it with unlimited data and not giving you the option to not take unlimited data. If you go to the store or over the phone and get unlimited data its called ADD or advanced data discount. You still get the mail in rebate listed on top of the ADD.

If you don't take unlimited data you dont get the extra $100 off.

That's not true. I got the online discount plus the ADD when I ordered the 6800 and when I tried to place a mock order today, I got the same result.

the only other thing i can think of is that the rebate is a manufactures rebate. only vzw sponsored MIR can be given as instant online discounts. i really wish they would change that pricing online though. it makes it seem that even with the ne2 credit that brand new customers get better pricing

Which is not true. I can guarantee you this, if you buy online or over the phone or store you are going to get the same price. The online discount is confusing but in the end it's all the same.

So according to the multiple vzw reps I've spoke to here is what the "Online Discount" is for:
1. incentive for new customers ONLY
-why do new customers get better deals?
2. online discount = 2 year agreement
-obviously, their math skills are incredible.
3. I need a data plan for $49.99
4. there is no online discount.
-then wth is that thing that says online discount.

This is the worst CS experience I've ever had with vzw.

And every single person I spoke to was totally clueless about the data plans offered for the Blackberry's.

For any PDA/Smartphone/Blackberry there is a $100 instant discount when you select or migrate to a voice AND data plan. It is referred to as an 'online discount' to give the perception that you will be getting a better deal online that retail but its the same. Other channels its refereed to as the 'Advanced Device Credit.'

If you already have a voice and data plan you technically are not eligible for it (BS).

Also if you are not on a plan for 34.99 you are not eligible (secondary lines on family plan= BS again)

You CAN combine ADC + NE2 + MIR if you meet all of the requirements. Either way it is the same price as online. But the online system will not let you process the order like that if you don't fit the above requirement...

After all the bullshit with vzw, I finally got the pearl. It wasn't until the very last two vzw employees i dealt with, that got it all taken care of. It's pretty embarrassing how clueless the majority of these people were...and to think that the other carriers are worse is pretty scary.
