Havent done a port yet, but I HATE having to got through infocenter just to see when a customer is eligable for an upgrade, where as we use to just enter the cell number and select "upgrade" from the drop down box.

Not sure what you mean, but you can log into info desk, and see the eligable date through there

I'm with you, I always used that method as well. Oh well, I guess we will have to do it the "proper" way and the way we were trained now! lol

Sucks for me because I would go through the numbers on my down time, find people who were elgiable for an upgrade letter, then send them a letter letting them know, along with discounts we would offer them, that accounted for about 40% of my sales.

Oh wow... what about 5 Star? It should give you the same thing, shouldn't it?

No, 5 star is only good for customers that have been activated through my stores

Yup, went with a known prefix for my area, such as 123-0001, 123-0002, 123-0003, 123-0004 and so on until I ran across somebody who was eligable and sent them a letter.

Oh wow... darn. It does suck. You can't see any information on anyone anymore without the social... makes things difficult.

To put indirects out of business? Figures, they have been trying to get rid of us (indirects) for years now.

It's not to put indirects out of business. I agree it sucks that Verizon solicits the indirect customers with better deals on line but they also do that to the directs, every customer is game to them. The point is that you are going beyond what is available to you (5 star) to get another company's customers. It's different then sending out a mass flyer or promotion to a city or town. You have tools available to you to contact your own customers and let them know what they can do. Fifty percent of my monthly data comes from 5 star. You should have some sort of mutual respect for the other agents in you town and let them have their customers. If someone walks into your store or calls you that originally went to another agent definitely take th...

From what I have been told people doing exactly what you were doing is the reason we can no longer see upgrade dates that way. You are only supposed to be soliciting your stores customers, not another stores customers that is why 5* is in place so you can more easily access your own customers.

LOL. Yet VZW can solicit any customer...kind of a "I can do this, but you had better not" personality.

We should be use to it by now, im tired of having to try every single thing I can think of to just barly scrap by and when I do finally find something that might make me a small profit, they take it away, its not the first time this has happened to us.

Yeah, it sucks. I had a guy in today that needed to activate an old phone. I asked him whose name the account was under. "It's under both me and my mom."

😕

I have no way to look and see if it's under his name. So I put in his social security number. No good. We called his mom. I put in her social security number. No good. Turns out it was in his dad's name.

Thanks, eROES update, for causing me an extra 15 minutes of work.

Why we need a full social security number to do anything is beyond me...

Customer- "hi, my name is John Doe, I need to do an ESN change on my account that is in my moms name, Jane Doe, I am a full sccess user on it and the passcode is "Fluffy" our dogs name.

Me- Im sorry but we need your moms full social security number to process that for you.

Customer- Why? I have full access to the account, and the Customer Service Rep said that all I needed to do was know the passcode and that you should be able to help me.

Me- Im sorry buddy, but we have to have your moms full social.

Customer- Well, shes at work and I cant call her, Ill have her come in when she gets off work.

Later in the week I find out that he was eligable for an upgrade but since his mom is turned off that we wont "help" her son, she de...

I hear your frustration, but couldn't you explain simply since you are an agent that there is an added level of security for the customer's protection?

It doesnt really matter, people get ticked when we ask for additional info, and if we say were an agent, they 9/10 times say "oh, your not a REAL Verizon store?"

And that really gets my blood boiling.

I can see why they are. How touchy would you be if a company ties your hands and expects you to sell the same as the next guy who gets to use his hands. Oh, and lets take it to another level...how about they pay that guy that can use both hands a salary, benefits, vacation...etc. They pay you, with your hands tied, nothing...except whatever profit you make when you sell a phone.

I never understood the whole thing with the social...legally a store CANNOT use social for verification if the customer doesn't want to allow. But VZW forces dealers to use the social...even if the customer has a passcode. I have always wondered how that is even legal...
...

I would assume it's legal because Verizon as a whole doesn't require it. If the customer doesn't want to give that information up, they can just go to a corporate store or call customer service. They're not forced to give out that information, but some people get really angry when you even ask for it.

If a customer does not want to give out their social then they can get around it by not shopping at an indirect (which sucks that it is that way), corp and telesales do not require your full social. If someone is activating a new line they also do not have to give their social but then they have to pay a $400 deposit or go prepay (which I also think is stupid).
