It looks like I may need to buy a new phone. I have not bought one in 6 years (you don't even want to know what I am currently using lol)

Interested in these 4 phones
LG VX-8700, Motorola RAZR2 V9m, Motorola W385, and the samsung gleam.

Just wondering which ones you see returned the most, which receive the most or least complaints

My most important concern is reception and call quality. I am not into texting, pics, but I would really like a slim phone like the ones I listed. I have been to 3 different verizon stores and got 3 completely different answers. I have read all the reviews on these, but I would love to know what a verzion employee sees and hears.

Or is there something new coming out worth the wait, that is similiar ...

8700 pretty nice.. its the one i currently have. never have any issues with it, over all good battery life.. nice display with a clear/crisp screen.
Motorola tends to have alot more returns lately then the new LG's to... LG is much better now.

I think the Gleam is hideous. The shiny keypad makes the buttons hard to read. The phone hasn't really been out long enough to know if it develops any long-term problems. I doubt it does because Samsung is usually pretty solid.

Once that shiny paint starts to chip off, it's going to look like crap.

One I sold got returned b/c it was eating batteries "like candy." His old phone was a vx8100, and the rest of his fam has 8300's, u540's, and a 385. he ended up going with an 8700, and he likes it ALOT better than the gleam. that and it was a pain in the butt attempting to get the contacts over.

I'd choose a KRZR over either of them.

Try the V3m with the new software- you might find it's way better than many others.

Motorola phones seem to have better reception for some reason, although I don't have any personal experience with the V9m. I've heard it's already started to have problems though. The 8700 is the way to go. I'm starting to get weary of LG phones lately, but the 8700 is a solid phone. It might also be worth looking at the Samsung u540. I've had a lot of luck with those, and they're surprisingly durable for the slim phones.

I would recommend the 8700 or possibly the Venus in a couple of weeks. I NEVER would recommend a Motorola to anyone as they a return-magnet. Stick with LG as a #1 option and Samsung as a close #2 option. I personally love LGs as that is what I have on both lines.

It's really a hard one for me. I haven't sold the V9M so I'm not sure about it. If its anything like the V3M though you'll want to stay away.

The 8700 is a good phone. I really like it. The only bad thing i've seen is mic/speaker problems. I've actually heard its a fairly common thing with them.

The Gleam I don't really know either. It's still too new to say. Samsungs are generally pretty solid phones though.

The W385 seems like an awesome phone. It's a littler lower class phone than the others you've mentioned but it is an all around good phone. I'm not normally a Motorola fan but you can't go wrong with this phone. Plus Motorola's have awesome reception.

No reviews on this site about the LG VX-5400, any thoughts on that from verizon reps?

I think I have narrowed it down between the 5400 and the 8700 based on what you guys are telling me.

The 8700 is probably your best bet. LG makes really good quality phones these days.
