Verizon is one of only two cellular carrier that refuses to provide the cellular numbers of its subscribers to the new Qsent Inc. 411 cellular directory. So unless you volunteer your number to someone to opt into the directory, Verizon will protect your privacy. There is no need for any Verizon subscriber to sign up for the Do Not Call List. That might just give the bad guys your number if they buy or steal the list.
Here's an article from the Washington Post:
"Verizon Wireless and the smaller U.S. Cellular have decided not to participate. Their customers won't be able to list their numbers through the new service, even if they want to.
"There's more reason today than ever for the wireless industry to protect customers' privacy," V...

I am very happy with the position VZW took... I'm just dissapointed that Cingular did not as well...
...
Actually, that's nothing different than what Cingular has publicly stated for it's own customers. Cingular does support the 411 directory, but it's customers must ACTIVELY sign up to be listed in the directory. Cingular greatly respects the privacy of it's customers and no numbers will made available to the directory without the express request of the customer.

True we've always left it up to the customer... I just don't like the whole idea... I get bad mojo from it and just kind of hoped we would have opposed it... If over 50% of the industry opposed it we would have at least delayed the public selling of Mobile phone #'s even longer... Because let's face it... That's all this directory really is...

what about if we have already sighed up for do not call list do you recommand that we remove our numbers from the list or just leave it?

Just kidding... 😉

if i start getting calls i just ask for them to change my number. 😎

I get random calls from bullsh*t telemarketers.
But, my cell is my only phone, so I'm not surprised that my number is out there.
Most recent one:
Them: Congratulations, you have chosen to accept a $25,000 Government Grant!
Me: From who?
Them: The Government.
Me: Which Government?
Them: Your Government.
Me: Oh sh*t! They found me! Tell Mr.Smith to meet me under the oak tree at 3. The eagle flies when the beer is poured from the mountain and the corn has been popped...Then I hang up.
I love screwing with telemarketers.

If you are on the national do not call list and do not have a prior business relationship with the caller they can be fined for each call they make to you.

Unfortunately that business relationship extends to the company, any subsidiaries and affiliates. If you have a Credit card with a well known company, any idea how far that business relationship spreads?? 👿
...
The primary business unless you specifically gave them permission to share your contact info.
They must also honor a request that they do not call regardless of the business relationship.

LOL! LOL! that hilarious! 🤣 🤣

Same goes for T-Mobile. Customers are automatically opted out and must request to be added.
