what to do !!!!!!!!!!! 760 vs. voyager

yeahright

Oct 19, 2007, 1:59 PM
I don't know what to do!

760=wifi I could use it at my home and work no data package
But 1.3 camera

Voyager, vcast spotty at my house and I have to pay for it.
But, 2mp camera, and looks badass

Man, not sure what i want to do, anyone have a view on this or more pros and cons I am not thinking of? Obviously the 760 is a full pda but I could care less about that, I wonder how the web will differ on the two devices since the voyager is full html. Then I have the whole brew vs. pda programs...mainly i want some games, I actually play a lot of games and text on my device.

What I was getting at is that nobody can give you a complete factual answer, since nobody has had hands on experience with either, one or the other might have glaring deffencies that we cant know about till they actually come out.

yeah, i am just wondering what everyone else is waiting for and why, and if anyone is getting the 760 and why.

I am leaning toward the voyager, but I was also expecting the 760 to cost way more then $250 so that kinda of threw my plans off.

I am not waiting for reviews, if i decide to get the voyager i will preorder, but I was waiting for the i760 before the voyager was announced and screwed up my plans, if the voyager was not coming I would order the i760 right now.

dammit, just can't decide if I want to buy this thing, I am to damn impatient

Why not buy it and return it in 30 days when the Voyager is out if you don't like it?

I have the i760. my only complaint is the camera. I do have the $24 data pack, to be honest, don't really use it too much. I went from an env to this. I would go with the i760. if the camera is important to you, then wait to test the voyager. this phone ROCKS by the way.

wifi...excellent
keyboard... top row takes some getting used to. kind of close to the top screen.
os... great compared to the wap browser on my env. it is much faster than the q9m and my friends mogul.
feel compared to the env... should be an easy transition.

It sounds like you really have no need for a smart phone. I would prolly go with the voyager.

Plus I think the voyager is going to be the new hot phone for the end of 2007 and on into 08!

Someone said no one has any experience with either phone.... well that's a lie. I have used both on several occasions. But it does boil down to what you wanna do with the phones.

Get the i760 if you want to be able to do your work on the road. That's the major benefit of a PDA, being able to access all the office programs (excel, powerpoint, etc.) and if you want e-mail and a full browser. The camera should not be the major selling point for you here because if you're using it for business then no need to worry about it. 1.3MP is fine; I don't see why so many people complain about it.

I went from the Treo 700p to the i760 which both have 1.3MP cameras, and I have a personal line that is an LG-VX8700 (soon to be an 8800 Venus) an...

do you know if the voyager has that stupid 50 text message limit? That has got to be the most annoying thing about the UI

I'm not sure about that; I do hope it has a cap, though. The cap is there to limit the phone from locking up and freezing, like for example, Motorola's.

I see numerous Motorola phones in the stores with people complaining about them freezing. However, when looking through the phone you find out that they have massive amounts of text messages. I've seen an L7c with over 1,000 text messages and the girl wanted to know why the phone took 2 minutes to open the menu.

On my Palm Treo 700p, if I start to get a high amount of text messages stored - the phone will slow down and lock up, sometimes delaying messages for about 5 minutes. The caps on text messages are definitely a necessity in my opinion.

Im okay with a cap...just not such a low one. I think the cap should be around 100-200 for both the in and out box.

With the advances in memory, im sure they can do this without clogging up the phone.

And when are companies gonna start using threaded messaging on phones? that is a great feature.

I thought about it. Vcast is very spotty at my house, I am just going to go pay per use on 760 and use the wifi for free at house, plus 250 for a win 6 device is hard to pass up. If I hate it then i will just ebay it next month.

The voyager is sexy, but after all is said and done it is just a jazzed up 9900 with full html, Don't get me wrong it is badass, but free wifi sounds nice to me.

Yeah, the thing that bothers me the most is that it arrived at the FedEx facility in Newark, NJ at 12:34AM Saturday morning...

FedEx delivers on Saturday's so there's no reason it couldn't have gotten to my house since I am only about an hour and a half away from there in NY.

I think the only reason I'm so anxious for it is I've been playing around with all the test models for months, and now my Palm Treo 700p is on its last legs. It'd just be nice to get a PDA that I can browse the web on and not have to worry about it restarting =P

I'm just lucky I've already gotten used to the semi-tight space at the top of the keyboard. Other than that, I don't think there's anything that's going to make the transition too difficult for me.

Battery life is a lot better than I thought it would be. I am pretty good about shutting down apps and turning off the evdo when I get a pic message. I get about a 1 1/2 on the standard, 2 1/2 on the extended(with moderate use). I was pleasantly surprised by the size of the extended battery, doesn't affect the look at all. You will have to get used to the send/end buttons. Depending on your dominate hand, it may cause the sliding mechanism to move around a bit. Glad it does give you a righty/lefty option 😁 . One thing I did notice, wifi seems faster than evdo(DET,MI). 🤨
