test drive

Is it neccesary to let the sales rep know up front that you are planning to do a test drive? Or are these just regular contracts that can be cancled before 30 days? Also, if you can get a free phone with the plan does it make the retuns simpler since you won't have worry about getting money back for the phone. If you get a select or premium plan will the messaging and internet be covered or only the calls? Is there a required fee up front to start?
Thanks,

Why would you buy something when you plan on returning it?

I think he's just trying to cover his bases, and make sure he fully understands the policy before he tries out Verizon.

you do not need to tell the rep about the test drive, its applied to all new numbers and you dont need to request it. returning the phone doesnt really matter as long as u havnt basically destroyed it within those 30 days. the select plan covers texting and your calls, the premium covers basically everything.. texting, internet, emailing, vznav, vcast and calls. premium plans arent available on all phones though. the only thing u really pay upfront would be for the phone, activation fee goes on your bill and the first bill is pro rated. the one thing about test drive is that you have to port out your number to another carrier you cant just cancel it and leave your number
