Okay, i know how verizon likes to keep pace with at&t and i was wondering, since at&t recently bought out a carrier to take over the western part of maryland, is it likely that verizon will expand their network into the western maryland area?

Yeah, they bought Ramcell and they bought Rural Cellular too, not too long ago. Don't know that either has coverage in Maryland, but I know one of them does in Kentucky

Well I live in Baltimore and I recently went out to Western Maryland and while it is home network, it is "Extended Network".

So yes Verizon does have coverage there.

Where specifically? Hagerstown or more around Cumberland?

Extended network is not verizon. I love it verizon is the best in making people think things. You roamed plain and simple if you were on extended netwrok. Which means they have no native coverage!

sure. Extended network is like alltel flashing roaming light. Its free. Roaming is (which I don't think verizon has any left) were you pay for it because they don't have an agrement with the carrier you are using which is equal to alltels steady roaming light. And they have quite a few areas of this in the counrty. I just hope I dont' visit any lol.

If you have America's Choice 1 or an older plan that lets you roam in the US, then you can still roam(Charged) off Alltel and other's where VZW doesn't have agreements. I've seen it happen. One customer had a kid in College and VZW has coverage in the area but her phone was picking up alltel signal and roaming. On Amer Choice II and all the newer plans. Roaming would be like going to Canada, Caribean and Mexico...etc.

to answer wireless buddy's question i live in Frostburg which is about a 3 or 4 minute drive from Cumberland if you take the interstate..but anyways...i know that Verizon has no native coverage to this area because if they did then there would probably be a store around for it somewhere...so up here i guess it is going off of U.S. Cellular's towers because we don't have alltel either... at&t bought Cellular One to take over this area and i was wondering if you think that Verizon will expand to this area so that they can kind of try to equal it out with at&t and have native coverage in the same areas?

Why can't you just keep roaming? Why do you need home towers so bad?

well a lot of carriers don't like you to use excessive roaming... and also i dont feel like driving about 60 or 70 miles to go get the phone and then have them try to get a number for my area that wont be long distance...or i would...but i was wondering if you think they would be expanding in my area to keep up with at&t because they are clearly the leaders in coverage right now
