Rain Shutting Down Service in New York City Area
How is it that the "biggest and best wireless company" with "superior service" is all messed up today because of the heavy rain. I got a sign on my phone saying, Searching For Service?? Friends around me now with T-Mobile and Sprint have service...so what the F?!?! Can someone shed some light on this non-sense. If a little rain shuts down VZW, what else can we expect. First they got S**T phones, they're all crippled, a horrilbe UI, nothing new coming out until who knows when, no new PDA's, NADA.

I'm pretty tired of people repeating the same thing. Every carrier has it's unique phone selection. Just because you don't see the phones trumpeted by Madison Avenue doesn't mean they aren't any good? Have you tried any of them?

I too am in NYC. I didn't try my VZ phone to make calls, but I was able to use TXT messsging without any problems.
On the other hand, my AT&T EDGE wireless internet service on Blackberry was terrible. Blackberry mail service in itself worked fine.

i have seen cingular phones that do that not all cingular phones do but just some i have never had this happen to me but im on sprint so idk kinda weird i thought maybe its a gsm thing but i guess not

There were a few issues in NY that day, you might not have checked when they were listed. There were outages in NYC and another part of NY. The NYC outage was from the landline end, so not something VZW can prevent or fix, VZW had to wait for the landline carrier to fix the problem so the towers effected could work again.

1. Water damage to handset...
2. Nonpayment of bill...
3. Dead battery...

and anyway they had an issue it happens. It could have been anything. The tower could have been flooded who knows! My point is things happen. Verizon is not the perfect network as some claim it is. It was built by humans. It is subject to all kinds of things!

learn what I still think sprint service and products are awesome. And CS is not the problem it was they changed my plan to cost me 60 more a month and wouldn't fix it or really couldn't I don't know. But since I paid more then it was time to leave. I can get what I need from alltel allot cheaper. It was mostly about price and the way they went about it. But price was the biggest. Had nothing to do with service. And their chrurn is down so they must be doing something better!
