Alltel buy out...

now the rumor is that there will be a buy out of alltel by a large carrier...so the question is , will it be verizon?

I think that if Alltell was split up and VZW didn't have to buy the redundencies i think they would be more likely to purchase just what they want and not pay for what they don't need.

sell the gsm network it owns to at&t... they are one of at&t's biggest roaming partners

IMO , I believe Verizon is very interested and is planning on buying Alltel. My reasons are these. Verizon just set it self up by opening up a new call center in Lincoln, Nebraska this year. Most Alltel customers are out of the midwest. So now Verizon is equipped to handle the extra 10 million plus customers from Alltel (dont know exact number) if the buyout happens. Reason two. Same technology. Reason three. Verizon has the resources to do it.
