its so bizarre... i call my friends with cingular and it would ring twice, and go straight to voicemail, then i would find them out of the crowd of 80,000 and they would say they didnt get any missed calls... i would call my verizon friends, and get connected just fine........

Because Verizon is a blue state company and ATT/Cingular is a red state company, and we all know how red states feel about gays, right? 😳

Just kidding. The real answer is: because ATT/Cingular isn't great there. I visit the Bay Area often and Verizon is very good there, Cingular, not so much.

I read on howardforums a while back in Milwaukee, a USCC user complained about not being able to make calls, while AT&T, Sprint, & Verizon users had no problems, while at a festival in Downtown Milwaukee. In the case of USCC, they have just a cellular band network, but not sure if their PCS network is live there. Cingular has both cellular & PCS in Milwaukee, while Verizon is PCS only in eastern Wisconsin.

When there are large public events such as this or a football game, they will turn up a temporary cell site on wheels, known as a COW or COLT, cell on light truck. That's why the network continues to work following a natural disaster. Heck they even activated one at the huge mall here during the holidays because of the increased traffic.

More gays have ATT than Verizon. Of course they do. They like "cute" phones...

I'm straight and use at&t. I know many gay people w/ Verizon. The flaming ones use Sprint.

Perhaps your friends were ignoring you.

I don't get it. Why are you so surprised? Cingular's GSM network is really subpar. That's why i always say "it sucks". Verizon's CDMA is far superior. I never have dropped calls, excellent voice quality.

The phone rang twice before going to voicemail, so it can be said that the call went through. I think that just like someone said, her friends were ignoring her.

Yeah, maybe when ATT is fully WCDMA/UMTS they'll be good, but for now, same ol', same ol'. 😡

GSM maybe be popular overseas, but it sure ain't the best tech out there anymore.
