Verizon Training

McG

How long are Verizon reps trained for before they take calls from customers? 2 days? Because i heard 2 days and i just want to hear the truth because that robbie guy was bitching that you guys are trained longer. I work for AWS and we are trained for 6 weeks, and still some of the reps cant do the job 😁 HAHA! Those people make work fun im telling ya. But we also have great reps. Just like any company. So how long is it. or they change it often?

6 weeks as far as i know.. Thats how long I was trained... But we also get a lot of online training on new stuff as it comes out. And sometime will go back into the training room for refresher training.. They keep us trained well here. 😁

whatever training verizon gives is truly not enough. the best coverage, but the worst customer service ever. you call 10 reps and ask a question and you will get at least 6 or 7 different answers. if you want the right answers, ask what call center you have. if it is not Irvine, California then you will most likely get bad information. Arizona and Utah are not too bad, but if you get Texas FORGET IT. Texas reps are just pure stupid.
BTW......Irvine (main office) knows of this problem and is trying to fix it.

here is a wonderful example of DUH!!!!! from a customer service rep in Washington state over the weekend.
"what number do you enter to do call forwarding?"
answer: "i don't know, no one ever asked me that, please hold."
after 3 minutes
"sorry to keep you waiting. i can't find it, please hold."
another 2 minutes
"i THINK it is *92."
DUH!!!!!!!!
i called back and got another call center and they told me it was *720
again a wrong answer.
For southern california it is *72 and to eliminate the forwarding it is *720.

if you do not believe me, call and ask the same question. you to can get 3 wrong answers.

Thats good.. and this is what you do in your spare time?? But if you already knew then why did you call and ask?? And do you actually think that only happens at Verizon?? So what you got a few idiots, every company has them.. I called Sprint and asked to have my account flagged for a PRL update.. The women I got didn't even know what a PRL was, she put me on to hold to find out how to get it, then came back and told me to dial *2 and tell Claire "PRL Update" and it will update my phone.. I told her WRONG! thats what I did, and it gave me you. please transfer me to Tech support were I can talk to someone with half a brain.

well big poppa. should change ur name to big blowhard.
i live in southern california and just yesterday i made 3 calls to customer service. guess which call centers i got? texas, alabama, and utah. soooooooooooooooo the south never gets the west calls? where is alabama, in the north? oh, i know. i am in southern california so that is why i got the deep down south. i bet ur so proud of being a verizon rep that u wear a t shirt with verizon on it to cover up the beer stains.
...

Jan 6, 2004, 5:27 PM
Well thats kinda weird.. you not suppose to be getting alabama... I might have to have the Support Desk look into that.. The main reason for this being is that most of the regions have a different billing system. I can't pull up accounts for people outside their south region which is, Tennessee, North and South Carolina, Texas, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Georgia

Jan 8, 2004, 12:16 AM
Well BigHotWind, guess you learn something each day which is a good thing. I did not mind getting Alabama. I love cute female southern accents. They are such a delight. Your opinions on the other hand are mostly onesided and not always correct.

Our training is very good and we do everything in our power to make reps are prepared to take calls. It is difficult to make sure everyone does the same thing. The only thing we can do is correct things when were find out about them. But everyone is provided with the same information and same training.

And your replies are that of a 12 yr old child, having to come up with childesh names to insult someone. ex: BigHotWind instead of saying my name Big_Poppa.

And what I told you isnot an opinion, Verizon Centers are broken up to handle different regions.. I would not be able to have a call center that handles the California region, because I am not in thier billing system. I am in the south area billing system.

And when i *DO* have an opinion they are HARDLY onesided. I may work for Verizon but I do not think they are the best, and actually use Sprint PCS as my primary service. My VZW phone is on a $5 plan for 200 anytime minutes a month, and is used as a backup incase im in an area Sprint does not have service.

And why not?? every knows that a companies employees always get better deals. That is one of the perks for working for them.

Sprint PCS gives a 23% discount off of regualr rate plans for it's employees.

Because it is against the Code of Conduct. Special deals are not to be disclosed to the customers. Think if a customer knows how much they give employees their service for they can use that info as leverage.

So if a customer finds out that an employee gets a stock option, they will demand it for themselves. I have never heard of a customer using that as leverage. Isn't it pretty much assumed that you get a discount of some sort through your employer?

Big Poppa-If you work in a retail store, you get service for free, 3000 minutes, unlimited vision, and FIMF. Kinda sucks that they only give the CS reps 23% off.

Jan 12, 2004, 12:37 PM
Yeah, Sprint only gave thier CS Reps a 23% discount off of the cost of normal consumer or business rate plans.. The employee plans they previously offered CS Reps, sucked anyways, and CS asked for the discount off normal rate plans... Store reps get thier service free, becuase they are there with the customer showing the customer how the service works using thier phone most of time. It's a Sales tool thats why you get it free 😁

And your sarcassm is very immature too, I am not trying to "Impress" you or anyone else. I stated that to show I am not "Onesided" If I was onesided then I would only have myservice with Verizon, and would be brainwashed like half of the other employees... I have worked for both Sprint and Verizon now, and know about both to much detail. And am not particulary impressed with either company when it comes to service or features. I like Verizon better than sprint for the purpose they pay better.

the companies should give you free service. after all, you surely don't make much money.
not the best paying job in the world, but at least you have some knowledge to try and impress people in forums. LOL
and you can carry around two phones. tell us, do you walk around with a phone in each ear and you talk to yourself as you walk through the mall? does that get the girls? or are u the guy with the black coat that works for sprint in the commercials. maybe your the geek with verizon that walks around and keeps saying. "can u hear me now?"
at least you are smart enough to realize "sarcastic" messages.

Im make good money for the work I do. mabey not as good as some jobs, but good enough. over $12 an hour. Plus full medical benefits, Dental, and Vision, Short Term incentive bonus' every year, Stock Options, all sorts of stuff.

and here i was just starting to respect you and you tell me that u use sprint more than verizon. how rude!
actually, in some areas i am sure sprint has great coverage. in california verizon has the best. sprint could be much better here in california. i think tmobile is actually better in california than sprint and that would mean cingualar would be as good as tmobile because they share all sites.
$12 an hour even with bennies is poverty level in california. you can not do much with $24,000 a year when a one bedroom apartment is over $1000 a month and housing starts at $200,000.
i guess i am very very lucky. my amex bill runs $3000 a month. no brag, just fact.

Called Cost of living my man...

Here in Tennessee, The cost of living is cheap.

You can get a 1 bedroom apartment starting at around $400 a month...

Usually the MORE people that live in an area, the more expensive the cost of living..

so 26 grand a year IS livable here..

But now since I nolonger work for VZW, I'm looking for something new to get into..

$12 hr??? Not sure who you're working for or what you do for vzw, but their salary bands don't go that low ($12 hr), vzw doesn't have stock so there would be no options. And using a Sprint phone??? where is your loyalty? VZWs network is TONS better than Sprints or anyone elses. Maybe you should take your phone and your comments to Fran and let him tell you all about Sprint. Not to mention they made the bottom of the list for consumer reports this year (AGAIN!!!)

Oh blow it out you butt.

As I stated to the last guy Verizon pays according by Cost of Living for your area.. In Tennessee Cost of living is low. $12.50 an hour is ok..

So what that I use a Sprint Phone.. I worked for Sprint PCS before Verizon.

The Sprint PCS service in Nashville, TN is just as good as Verizon's.. RARELY ever have a dropped call, and PLUS Verizon Could even BEGIN to offer me a plan as good as what I have.

I have an $85 a month plan for 2000 anytime minutes, Unlimited PCS2PCS, Unlimited Web access. I also have a second phone that SHARES those minutes for FREE, which Also has unlimited web access, and FREE Voice Command. and then I pay $10 extra for unlimited N&W's and $4 a month extra for each phone for insuranc...

haha.. well there are some bad apples.. they'll eventually be weaved out. If you talk to someone who isn't professional and they are from the Texas call center, ask to speak with their supervisor to tell them how you feel. In turn if you call and you get someone from TX who is just dang good... pass that to their supervisor as well. 🙂

Worst customer service ever huh?? Thats why we always rank #1 above all carrier in customer service in every survey that is done. that is why we have won MANY awards for having the best customer service... Please keep in mind too it does not matter which call center you get, Verizon Call centers are broken up into regions, which means center call centers handle calls from certain parts of the country. You customer service call would never get to a center that process south are customers. just like south area customer would ever get the irvine center... There are always going to be some bad answers, or just not the answer YOU want hear. which is usually the case. Sprint PCS is Notrious for give multiple answers.. Now in now way am I saying V...
