We have the 8600 and 8700 and the 8700 smokes the 8600 for reception and call quality and blue tooth.

The 8700 is awesome.. Much mor signal strength and the bluetooth is a whole new chip set that does not have the dreaded echo problems taht have plagued LG

8700 might be the best phone of the year.

The outside screen sucks but the rest is great !

It's the DeLorean phone! They should make a "Shine" Windows Mobile PDA phone so I can have my DeLorean PDA! 😁

I was wondering, which is a better phone to upgrade to - the VX8300 or the VX8700? My mother will be upgrading from the VX7000 and I think she'd like the thinness of the 8700. But some reviews said that it would get really hot. Would you recommend this phone over the 8300 or the 8300 over the 8700?
Thanks!

The 8300 is one of the best Verizon phones period. The 8700 is very close. The 8700 would be better than most every other phone available, but still not quite the 8300. If she really wants a thin phone, she should get the 8700 by all means. But the 8300 is very good. Both phones are incredibally solid.

Thanks for your reply Wireless Buddy! I was also wondering, how is the 8700 with overheating when being used for a while? Also is the vibrate mode weak?

Thanks in advance!

I've never used the 8700 for more than a few minutes in the VZ store. It's shouldn't get too hot. Def. not dangerously hot to the point of overheating!

It gets warm with extended use. The vibrate is weak. Of course, I was coming from the 8000, so.....

I am addicted to phones. I have had the 8100, 8300, white chocolate, red chocolate, 8600, 9900 and I used the 8700 for about 3 days. I love the phone. It feels nice, it looks nice. However, it gets extremely hot after very little talking, like less than 5 minutes. Also, the battery life was horrible on it. Like I said, other than than it's a great phone!

Of all those phones, which ones were your favorites? Which ones weren't so good?

I ask because I'm upgrading next month. 😎
