Downgrade Question

What's the oldest phone I could get Verizon to activate? I know it needs that e911/gps feature since like 02 or 03 or so, but what's like the absolute oldest phone I could activate through them?

Thanks

There is an LG (I can't remember the model number) that was a candy bar style phone with a pull up antenna. It had a blue ring around the face, and the rest of it is silver. It says "GPS" on the back. I'd look up the model for you, but I'm firewalled. Maybe somebody else knows the model I'm talking about.

I can't think of any older than that one...

In the LG lineup, I know the LG VX4400 can be activated. My brother has one, and had to reactivate that phone after his Motorola V265 quit working after a year. For Motorola, I know the 120e can(not to be confused with the 120c, which can't be activated). Not sure about Samsung, since I didn't use any Samsung phones until 2004.

For Samsung its probably the 310 if I remember correctly.

Curious why you want to do that? Do you hate the commie UI? or want something retro or both?

I have been down that road if that's the case and old phones are just that, old and lame! 😉 but maybe you just need something cheap, still cheap phones are just that- cheap crap 😁 good luck

Thanks for all the replies. Is there a date I can go by? Not before such n such? Some of the phones ppl posted look new, and a few candybars that might work. Any plain, bulky, single green on green screen flip phones out there?

Moto V60s...

Lg VX3100 (although that is small, not bulky)

Audiovox 8300 is not a flip but a nice small flat phone...

Is that a color screen I see??

Thanks, I was thinking older, like a Nokia 918
or Microtacs or Startacs, the oldest you can activate.

Those are about the oldest as per your requests for non color screen. The 4400 by LG is full color screen.

Their are plenty models that were before those...but the ones that people have mentioned on here are e911 capable. It has to have a GPS chip in order to activated...this is Federal Law. (actually the feds say it is not their law, but they fine the carriers heftily if they activate a nonGPS phone so the carriers just won't do it.)

here is a phonescoop cliche:

Hope that helps.

The Nokia 3585 is very fat and has a gray screen. Still one must ask wtf would you want a phone that is that old and so low tech!?!?
