Warrenty...do i get a different model phone????????

BigShow

I bought a KRZR. Ear piece audio went dead. Got a replacement. 1st replacement kept resetting every 30 minutes and freezing. Just received 2nd replacement. 2nd replacement also keeps freezing and resetting. Does Verizon owe me a different make and model. And can I choose. Because I DO NOT want LG. They are worse than Motorola. I only want Samsung.

I cant go LG again. Had the 8100 and the 7000. Both horrible. Friend has the 8300...hates it.

But do i get to choose like a Samsung u540 or whatever the current comprable phone that Samsung has? Also can customer service send me the phone? Sick of driving long distance for a new phone.

All i know is that his phone's screen keeps going blank and the speaker phone audio doesnt work. His prior 8300 kept saying car kit.

I just want sure how Verizon's warrenty policy is on getting different make/model under warrenty. I thought it was after 2 replacements you get a different make/model. I also heard from someone you can get warrenty replacements through the 800# customer service.

I always thought LG was a lower quality brand. I read in a PC magazine that LG's were the most inexpensive phones for carriers to buy and that their compatability with VZW network is not as good as Motorola and Samsung.

Totally not true. Most LGs are good, Motorolas suck (see every phone other than the E815) and most Samsungs suck (see all with internal antennas).

Well, in my store, I send more phones and accessories to Moto for repair/replacement than I do ANY other manufacturer.... We also sell more LG than we do Moto. Sell more LG ship less in, sell less Moto, ship more in. The stats speak for themselves to me.

Wow, someone has been giving you bad info... First of all I think I can explain why you are having an ongoing problem. You have been going to a store for your warranty issue, most likely the store did a phonebook transfer. As a result of that phonebook transfer there was some corrupt information transfered into the replacement phones, hence the phones are having problems. Run backup assistant to store your phonebook info, then do a master reset on the phone, then run backup assistant to restore your contacts.

If you still have freezing problems after that, call into 800 922 0204 and explain what is happening, the rep will transfer you to tech support and you will get another KRZR sent out to you, and if you dont take it to a store for a p...

Ok...Yes, you can just call in to customer service to get a replacement phone. 1-800-922-0204.
As far as getting a completely different model, from my experience the reps that handle the warranty issues have very strict rules they have to follow when it comes to replacing your phone with a different model. Usually, it's after you've had 3 replacements, and they all have to have the same problem. If they do decide to put you into a different model, it would be something comparable to what you currently have. You don't get to choose, they usually either just tell you what you're getting or offer you a couple different choices.
The best thing to do would be to just call customer service and BE NICE. Explain you're still having the same...

LOL, i dont wanna be mean to them. I just want them so understand that the only make i trust is Samsung. Scares me getting another LG or KRZR. And i think the only comprable Samsung is the u540 or something like that. The Silver one with the black on the inside. Not as nice looking as the KRZR but im sure i can rely on it to work.

Like I said, you're best bet is to just call and ask. If nothing else, they'll still send you another KRZR. And if you still have problems, you'll have a little more leverage to get a different model.

Yes and no. Customer Service CAN send out phones.. usually with a small fee.. however the replacement 3 strikes you get a different phone deal can only be done in a store and some people I've heard of it gets reset because it's manager's discretion or something.

You may get a different model. I think the lg8600 or possibly one of the samsungs but it would probably be an LG from what I'm guessing. The ones you've listed aside from the 8300 had issues with battery life and all kinds of other things. When comparing phones though do plenty of research.. jdpower.com rates LG better than moto or samsung but I guess it's all about personal preference.

You won't get your choice but you'll get a comparable phone for sure. Normally has to b...

The warrenty is from the manufacturer, VZW just administers it as a convenience to their customers. Why mail it back and wait for Moto to mail you another when you can run down to the store? Customer service charges $10 shipping/handling and can only replace it with the exact same phone. And its still refurbished. If you escallate high enough someone may replace it with another if you're a merits customer with a good payment history. At that point they're going against the original warrenty terms and conditions so it doesn't happen very often. More likely they'll approve you for an early upgrade instead if you simply don't want another Krzr.

The mythical 3 strikes rule officially applies to advance devices only (PDA/Smartphones) and the...

Your post has alot of incorrect information in it, but the big one I want to point out that is wrong is that you do not get charged shipping and handling on warranty exchanges unless you request faster than normal shipping or request a shipping option other than FedEx.

VZW doesnt want you to go to the store for a warranty exchange, they want you to call in and have it mailed out.

Yes, you can get a different model phone! And yes, you can call CS to get it done! You can even send a message online! And yes, you can get a different model PDA or phone!

I had a customer who went through 3 or 4 Treo 700w's, and he came in last week with a xv6700, which he got through the warranty.

And, just yesterday, I personally got a moto v325 swapped out for a Samsung A930, through the warranty. I had an absolutely awesome rep who gave me several different options, and in the end she let me choose the phone I wanted.

It really does depend on what the problems were, the time in which you had the problems (I was swapping out my 325 every 2-3 months), and what rep you get.

The only time a dif model would be sent out is if the problem the customer is having might be getting caused by the specific model, for example moto phones sucking and the customer keeps getting a phone book transfer so the phone keeps having the same problems caused by the corrupted phonebook that keeps getting transfered.. then tech support will probably swap it for a samsung or LG of the same class.. and in your example an A930 is not the same class of phone as a V325..

No phonebook transfers, I use backup assistant.

And originally, the rep offered me the Nokia 6215i or the 2366i as a replacement. Or, I could get whatever model I wanted, but I would have to pay the difference between the retail on the 325 and the retail on whatever I chose, plus extend my contract. We were discussing that option when I mentioned the a930, and the retail cost of that now is comparable to the 325, so she gave it to me as a FRU.

I realize I got an awesome deal here, as I went from a standard, non bluetooth, camera phone to a VCast phone. I know it had more to do with the rep than anything else. She was very sympathetic to the situation, especially the fact that I've been through 3 of those phones already, two within ...

I just had a customer in my store with this problem. I'm an indirect so I can't do FRU replacements anyway, but tech support will send out a FRU if they go through troubleshooting and can't get it fixed. This was the girl's 3rd FRU, and they told her they would send her a different phone. She's getting an LG VX8300 in the mail on Tuesday. So much for that being a myth...

I'm in the Mountain Region and Customer Care in the west cannot send anything but the same model on regular phones. They don't handle PDA's/Smartphones, it has to go through the data support and there are very strict requirements on sending anything but the same thing. Customer care also charges $10 shipping/handling for phones, although data support doesn't usually for advance devices. They want you to go to the store for the regular phones. Other areas may handle it differently, hence the discrepancy.

I am in the same boat with you but with a RAZR, you have to have the phone swapped out 3 time in order for them to give you a different model phone of equal or lesser value of the one you are having replaced. Its really up to the CSR as to what phone is equal to the KRAZR. I do believe that you can pay the difference between phones if you dont mind doing that.

correct me if I'm wrong

In the NorthEast area if you have 3 defective phones in 60 days you can get a diff model. It is a given that you can get a phone of same/lesser value but the CS rep can make allowances (just make sure they get noted on the account) This policy, technically, does not apply to PDAs, but depending on the situation it can be allowed. Basically, Customer Service can do about anything...depends on the situation and the rep.
