Do they really need one? The price of the iPhone puts it into a specific market. While there will be a demand for the iPhone, I don't see it shifting much weight in the market at all. People will be crazy about the iPhone, but they will be pissed when they find out it isn't free.

i don't understand the Iphone anyways?? Microsft has had phones out for years and this Iphone brings nothing new to the table besides a touch screen....You can't change the battery, service through Apple not cingular(have fun with that cusotmers, my nearest apple store is about 70 miles) No high speed...list goes on and on. Keep your money, don't get caught up in Apples REstricted dowloading world and just get a treo or hell even a Q.

You know...I'd still get an iPhone over a Q. The Q is such a piece of crap.

that was not exactly the point i was making, but you are right the Q is crap, but it is also in a whole different category when we speak about price. I guess a better comparison would be a palm or windows device. I just don't get the iphone craze? Makes no sense to me, Is the phone cool..yes, but it isn't really rewriting the cellular industry when you break down what it brings to the table. What does the Iphone(or Apple) offer that you can't get on a Windows phone over the past 4 years? YOu can play movies through media player, music, touch screens...just don't get it. Oh and you get a removable battery, true high speed data, and full pda functions for less $ and the product will be warantied and backed by the carrier. I guess I just don't ...

A lot of the iPhone craze is it's the 1st smart phone to run OSX and link directly to Mac. There many Mac users out there, including me. I use both and believe me windows can't compare to OSX.

you can pair a palm to mac...right? Still not following, i guess that makes sense but seems litle pricey just for that considereing the shortcoming of the phone. I guess if it had a removable battery, expandable memory, true high speed data I would understand more, just seems a lot $ when considering the shortcomings, and maybe you liek the OSX better, but does it really do anything new than whats out there?

Yes, it's very high priced. But Macs have always been. I use a smart phone, w/windows for work and it sucks. Always freezing and have to re-boot. Runs off of VZW. Don't know how OSX will be on mobile but it's a hell of a lot better on the PC. A lot faster and easier to go thru menu's.

I just don't get the craze, I woould rather have a palm when you through prices in there, especially considering things like data speed, removable memory, removable battery...It does look cool though

I would like the see an LG Prada type phone, even one with TV/MediaFLO in it.... If they did the Windows Mobile one here, I doubt it will be as cool. But as it stands.... I don't think VZW will do anything because of the cost.

I heard verizon wireless already officially responded when apple was trying to get them to carry it. From what I hear it was pretty much a one fingered response...

Verizon was the first wireless company Apple approached to sell the iphone. They told Apple no because of the music and ringtone downloads revenue Verizon would lose.

LOL and how is Vz's music revenue now? has it improved? 🙄 Speaking of that, when are Q1 numbers coming out?
It was not about "music revenue" it had to do more with distribution control, tech support and of course and the fact that it was a product not intended for the average Vz user 🤣

I think that the average Vz user thinks that:

-BT is only for handsfree calls
🙄
-"Tethering?" "what? you mean teething? on no! I don't have children.."
-"Opera Mini? Oh no, I don't like classical music. Not even in small venues 😕 "
-"OBEX? I've never heard of them, however I used to listen ...

The iphone is a great concept, however fundamentally there is a huge disconnect between the feature set, their target market and the price.

This phone is supposed this fantastic mulitmedia phone that can also use wifi and keep track of your schedule...But the problem is this: Real business people won't want it, because of its lack of key features, and the younger crowd might not be able to afford it

So who the hell is buying this phone for $500-600?

I think it will be hot at the release, but cingy better hold their breath, cause I really don't think this phone is going to be as big as they think it is.

Im more excited about the new treo than the iphone!!!
