Why do Verizon's phones lag behind?
Why would it take Verizon over a year to get the razr? By the time it came, the new was worn away... the craze was practically over. Now, I notice T-Mobile has the fabulous Samsung t629. Its a sexy, slim slider. It looks phenomenal and it a wonderful size. Sure, Verizon just came out with a Samsung slider... in fact, its only available in three markets...but it already debuted for the GSM carriers over a year ago. Its rounded, outdated and overall disappointing. Sure, it has verizon's new TV s...

The phone selection at VZW setting the pace for other carriers.
I wouldn't go that far! 🙄 Even though it is true that Vz's phone selection has improved A LOT it is not be misinterpreted as the quote above

Again... the Krazr is just a slimmer version of the Razr basically. Yes, there are a couple new features, but the look is the same. The same can be said for the EnV. The candy bar style with the flip up screen/keypad is cool, but it was cool over a year ago when the first incarnation of that phone came out.
So there can be three almost identical versions of the sidekick...but only one version of the "V" series? That doesnt seem fair. A lot of new phones are basically upgrades of older ones. I'm pretty satisfied with verizon phones, and I went into cingular store a few weeks ago and I really didnt see anything that interested me.

Lets take T-mobile for instance, my carrier. We still have not yet received the krzr, perhaps I should write a 12 page blog on why T-mobile lags behind the other carriers. I mean alltel had the phone before we did! Be still my heart.
This conversation is ridiculous, pointless and endless. When will people realize that your first and primary responsibility to pick the carrier that works for you, then pick equipment.
Lets summarize the steps that should be required:
1) Pick c...

No they don't. BUT, they can control what the receive from the manufacturers.
what if the phones they get from manufacturer doesnt work well on cdma system. they may have received some sliders etc. but htey ended up being junk phones. not up to the quality they should be. so vzw didnt get them. that is something i can say vzw does is test the phones. gsm doenst do enough testing, then they sell them and they have problems. but then they make it look like it is customers fault, by saying they dropped phone or did something to phone. but it ends up being manufacturers defects. as for slider phones, average life on phones are 6 to 8 months. and most that have been manufactured forgsm or c...

That's what happens, especially on Bluetooth and interoperability with other devices.
While other manufacturers want open internet access and free interoperability. Verizon cripples the off-network services, or monopolizes them.
Contact, photo, mixed media, and ringtone transfer are usually the first features to get hacked from their phones to pave the way for the carrier network to be the paid gatekeeper for the content.

Most CDMA phones will be outnumbered to GSM phones. There is a bigger market. There is over 2 billion GSM users in 212 countries.
Correction: 220 countries/areas in the world 😉

I guess I don't understand what needs people have for cool phones. I like to have a cool phone and thus why I bought the pimpish U740, I liked the dual open deal an the bigger screen. Still, is a phone that personality defining that you must obligatr yourself to a service you don;t know will meet your needs for the next few years? You have reliable service now, as you'd said. Who knows, maybe T-Mobile might do a great job for you. Still, it seems awfully impetuous to jump ship for a slightly styliz...
