Verizon and Bluetooth
I am a Verizon Wireless customer and I am frustrated by their lack of a Bluetooth capable phone. I understand that Sprint is about to offer a Sony Ericsson T608 CDMA phone with Bluetooth. My question is, if I am able to purchase this new Sony Ericsson phone somewhere (other than a Sprint store), will I be able to use it with Verizon? Or do I have to be a Sprint customer?
Thanks
I am a very long time Verizon customer. Indeed, prior to their merger with Verizon I was with Airtouch and prior to that Cellular One, beginning in 1988.
After these 15 years, I'm ready to leave Verizon over the Bluetooth issue. Verizon is quick to blame handset manufacturers for lack of appropriate hardware. That is a cheap and easy excuse. As the largest wireless provider, Verizon has simply failed to show vision and leadership on this important technology.
I walked into a VW store today, and discussed this issue with them. Aside from sending me to this site for the latest updates, they offered nothing.
Even a google search doesn't pull up anything promising. If the rumormill isn't even talking about a bluetooth solution for VW, it can't be here "soon enough".

If ya don't like my answer then don't read it.. There is no sceduled release date that any employees or non-employees know about for any bluetooth phones.. all we can say is that they will be here soon enuff.. if ya don't like it.. tough!
Very intelligent, customer-centric answer. Well said. You've provided a stellar example of Verizon Wireless customer support - "screw you if you don't like it."
I'm sure Verizon Wireless management appreciates your approach - alienate the customer.
No one at Verizon Wireless knows when ANY phone will be released until just prior to the launch. The big wigs keep that information confidential and to themselves because of competetive reasons..
And About VZW customer care being so bad.. hmm I guess thats why they have been ranked the best above every other US wireless carrier in America huh..
And by the way my opinion are my own personal opinoions and do not effect my job performance.

What a moronic answer. I guess it is what I should have expected.
I tried to answer with the best of my knowledge. And unfortunatly there is no scheduled release date for a bluetooth enabled phone. But We will have them. eventually..
Hope it helps some of you...
The only dysfunction is with car kits, which is a safety issue, because cars usually don't take those media. Why is that?

I'm in the same boat here. Currently you need to switch carriers (go to AT&T or Cingular) if you want a Bluetooth phone. I sent a message to the Verizon Wireless "president office" a few days ago regarding this exact subject and here is what I got in response:
"Thank you for directing your comments to the Office of the President.
"We appreciate your interest in the latest technology in wireless phones.
"Verizon Wireless is constantly improving the services, features, and wireless phones we offer to our customers for their communication needs.
"At present, there are several wireless phones being tested for functionality and reliability with our network, including some with Bluetooth capability.

Then select "About Us"->"Contact Us", and scroll down to the bottom of the page where you will see "contact our executive office" with the name of your local Verizon executive. Clicking "send an e-mail" will open a new window where you can type your question.
I noticed that selecting "I have an unresolved issue/complaint about a person or service" results in the fastest respose from Verizon part.
I hope it helps,
