Does anyone have any more information about this phone? I know Gunny is excited....I would like to get this soon because of the nature of my work now. If anyone can help that would be awesome! Thanks in advance.

There is no new info the only thing we know is it's blue and suppose to hit this month, unless verizon screws us over again.

I cant find any info on it. Will the type s have bluetooth?.. I hope so, that is the only thing that stopped me from getting the type V, no bluetooth.

I will cross my fingers for bluetooth..

How so? 🙂

The only thing I could see is it not being as shock resistant with the absence of the bumper, but other then that it should still be the same mill spec standards... unless you know something we don't.

I would like to see a low end G'zone model, like VERY basic, not even a color screen. Very cheap!

The Type S may not have a 2mp camera.

Well it won't bother me if it only has a 1.3, the smaller form factor along with the added bluetooth and SD is a great upgrade 😎

I agree with gunny. I don't know what they were thinking on the gzone v by not adding bluetooth to it, that was a major flaw. I would have that phone now if it had bluetooth.

That's good for me. I'm buying a Type V to compliment my Treo when I need a rugged phone.

You don't think the Type V will be discontinued before May, do you?

Verizonwireless.com now gives this away with a two-yr activation in my zipcode.

In my local store it's still $199. I returned my krzr and told the manager I wanted the g'zone for free and he said he couldn't match the price. He also said a premium phone being blown out meant a new version was very close.
He expected his in-store price to drop very soon, and that a new version would debut online before hitting stores.

i sure hope the type s is more reliable than the type v. i have already had a bunch returned witin the fifteen days for powering off at random. in my opinion its not a very good phone.

Well good thing its only your opinion because you don't know wtf you're talking about! I've had mine since day one without a single issue. Its been out in the field surviving real life battle conditions, and it has work flawlessly the entire time.

i must be imagining it then because i have had three in the last week that would not survive a pin falling on it without powering off. unless you sell several of the phones or hear the response about the phone from other people than maybe you dont know jack. and with it being so close to now it could honestly be a bad batch because people who have had the phone from day one have not been in with problems just recently purchased ones.

a bad batch is a much more likely scenario then you thinking the phone is not very good do to a few returns 😉

I just went to a verizon store and he told me that the old type-v will be going down in cost to $65 on the 20th. My contract ends on the 30 of this month so I can get one for free or maybe I should wait till the new one comes out I don't know yet. He said that he didn't have a timeframe of when it will come out but the price dropping the way it is is a good sign and he could access an internal website that has info about the phone (I want to say like a spec sheet). He did say though that there were still a lot in stock so they might wait until they unload a few more before issuing the new out.

yeah, thats a pretty standard practice for VZN...the type v is a pretty good phone...if they really lower the price on full retail, i would totally snag one!
