Newbie Text Message Question

KLFloyd

I've never used Text messaging before so please forgive me because this is probably a very novice question, yet I can't seem to find the answer anywhere on Verizon's website.

Can I TXT message from my phone people who are with other service providers? Most of my family is with Alltel and several friends are T-Mobile and Cingluar customers. If I can text message across service providers does it cost me any more or would this be included in a package?

Thanks for the info...

That's only to text message somebody's phone from your email account... 😕 I have never had to do that to simply send a text message from T-Mobile to Verizon, or Sprint to AT&T Wireless, or any other combination of carriers. The only time I've had a trouble sending a text message across carriers was when Cellular One (TDMA) was here before AWS bought them out.

No, you can actually do it directly from most cell phones. I know the Motos and LGs for sure. Just look for the "@" and "." under symbols. I've never tried using number directly. The info I pulled for my example was directly from Cingular's website.
