Its actually a pretty sweet looking phone, we got our dummy in today and its about the size of a razr, its really a neat looking phone, im sure there will be a lot of people who will get it.

I ditched my Gzone for a Sam 990, now I am looking to buy another Gzone.

Well, I have 2 lines, my personal line (8300), and a demo line (currently 990). I sell a lot of stuff on ebay, and need a good camera. I seldom use my demo line (have all the phone calls fordwared to my persoinal line and leave the actual phone at home). When I originally got the Gzone I loved it, then the 990 came out and I bought it, then eventually I activated the 990 on my demo account to use because it has a memory card slot to transfer the pictures (although it really doesnt matter becauase text/pix are unlimited on my demo account).
Now I am stuck that If I buy a Gzone (cost $415) and try to dump my 990 on ebay (going for around $250) I will loose a lot of money.

1sr quarter eh? Well, I won't be eligible for a discounted upgrade till June, so hopefully it will be out by then...The type s looks a little smaller which should be nice, and I look the greyish/green color. Can't wait for this one!

I actually sorta like it so far.
My 9900 was victim to a random "golfing incident" and I have since retired my Treo so I needed something new.
I like the 740 so far. It seems to be built well, the RF so far is a bit better than the 9900 and voice quality seems to be spot on.
As for the differences between the 740 and env are this from using for about 4 hours now:
UI is faster in the 740.
The outside screen is pretty good.
The camera in the 740 is meh compared to the 9900
The 740 plays games a touch better (Brothers in Arms and Prince of Persia)
The UI seems to be the same.

Yes you can change to Digital.
I like the phone and don't buy into people saying about it being gold. Its not obnoxious, in fact the colour itself is very subtle. Its in no way different from the silver phones we used to buy.
I would still recommend the phone with one caveat. If you want this phone to play music alot, keep in mind this phone does not come with a builtin 2.5 adapater. Instead you plugin a dongle into a side dataport. And this phone does not support BT Stereo.
That and the small buttons are the only 2 things that really jump out at me.

I liked everything about it except for one thing. The brightness of the screen wasn't that great.
Do you notice this? Compared to my A930 it seemed dimmer. I raised the brightness to the max too.
Then I happened to open the A990. Wow! That screen is really nice and bright.
The color isn't my favorite, but it's not obnoxious, like you said.
The front screen is kinda small when you are using it to take pic of yourself. But that's not a big deal. I do like my A930 ability to rotate the lens of the camera so you can use the inside screen for viewing.

I have noticed that with the screen as well. At first I thought it was an older Reflective LCD, like the original gameboy. That is personally my biggest dissappointment because Sammy's usually have very bright and crisp screens.

😳 no stereo bt? AND no headset port? MUST use a dongle? Well the feature set COunts me out then... thats not good design. I love the phones form factor and I can even get over the color (heck just do a VSkin to cover it.) but the qwerty keyboard is overrated for me cause I enter text much faster using predictive input software, and once you take that out, the phone is about as good as an lg 8100. accept my 8100 played my mp3s via a stereo headset. and my 8300 does it via stereo bluetooth. and again, all my text/email is faster (for me) via predictive input. so it looks like my next device will be the u620s. mobile tv, stereo bt, small form factor. im set with all that.

Yes, but it doesn't read texts back to you like the enV.
I had both and honestly the enV is a bit better in terms of functionality (except when playing movies).

Yes, that's right, I have the U740 coming and I think it may be here as early as next week so, I guess, I will be an early guinea pig. I'm more curious about the gold. If it's as light as I think, then I don't think I'll care much about it.
