Anyways I think that phone is ugly I don't want one, but some dork will. I'm waiting on the G'zone Type-S I don't see anything else coming down the pipe that can replace my 8300.
Couldn't have said it any better myself.

The hofo thread says it will hit first quarter hopefully its right.
My 8300 smells like cut mullet, and frozen shrimp. And I cant wash it.
Now I am stuck that If I buy a Gzone (cost $415) and try to dump my 990 on ebay (going for around $250) I will loose a lot of money.

Because Cost on the 990 is $445

My 9900 was victim to a random "golfing incident" and I have since retired my Treo so I needed something new.
I like the 740 so far. It seems to be built well, the RF so far is a bit better than the 9900 and voice quality seems to be spot on.
As for the differences between the 740 and env are this from using for about 4 hours now:
UI is faster in the 740.
The outside screen is pretty good.
The camera in the 740 is meh compared to the 9900
The 740 plays games a touch better (Brothers in Arms and Prince of Persia)
The UI seems to be the same.
The movie player in the 740 is much better (my 9900 struggled with 20 fps, this is running 20 fps quite well) Actually I think this has the same proce...

Yes I do... it was delivered by Fedex at 920 AST.
Well poop I see that it is available on VZW.com.
No I lost a skins round that cost me 1200 bucks which I should have won. My phone happened to be the first thing I got my hands on.
BTW, if anybody finds a 9900 around the 16th hole of the Scottsdale Country Club...
And technically its called the Starfire.
Here is the link for it:

Can you change the front display to a digital clock instead of analog?
Yes you can change to Digital.
I like the phone and don't buy into people saying about it being gold. Its not obnoxious, in fact the colour itself is very subtle. Its in no way different from the silver phones we used to buy.
I would still recommend the phone with one caveat. If you want this phone to play music alot, keep in mind this phone does not come with a builtin 2.5 adapater. Instead you plugin a dongle into a side dataport. And this phone does not support BT Stereo.
That and the small buttons are the only 2 things that really jump out at me.
I liked everything about it except for one thing. The brightness of the screen wasn't that great.
Do you notice this? Compared to my A930 it seemed dimmer. I raised the brightness to the max too.
Then I happened to open the A990. Wow! That screen is really nice and bright.
The color isn't my favorite, but it's not obnoxious, like you said.
The front screen is kinda small when you are using it to take pic of yourself. But that's not a big deal. I do like my A930 ability to rotate the lens of the camera so you can use the inside screen for viewing.
I've thought about just buying a small point and shoot camera like an Elf to keep in my purse to take pictures/vi...

my ideal phone would be...
...a PDA phone w/ 320 x 320 touch screen and runs Palm OS 5.4 but looks like Mac OS X, a 4 megapixel camera with a true flash like on regular cameras, a QWERTY, EVDO, support for the new VCAST TV, can use as a remote for everything in my house, remote start/door unlock for my Chevy Impala, BlackBerry style push email, Bluetooth (all profiles), a projector OR phonic output jacks, an insane battery life, LG 8300 reception, stereo speakers, and video calling.
ok im done 🤤
I had both and honestly the enV is a bit better in terms of functionality (except when playing movies).
