if they don't have aGPS on them you will not be able to reactivate them.

Tracphone does not own any towers, so their entire coverage is off of roaming agreements. As others have stated, you will only be able to get the 850 band, and only on towers that tracfone pays their owners to have access to.

Tracphone sells both GSM and CDMA phones. This means that Tracfone can have CDMA roaming agreements where you are traveling, but if you have a GSM phone, it will show no service (and vice versa).

I would recommend either getting a new phone (and checking the technology to make sure it works where you need it) or go with Verizon/ATT or some other carrier's prepaid so you know exactly where their phones should work.
