Tracfone is ok as long as you don't need to talk to customer service. Don't know if they are a bunch of american hater idiots or they are just plain stupid. I guess I fall into the stupid category too because I've been with tracfone a number of years. I don't use the phone excessively and can get by with about $100 a year. (about 800 units). If I could find another company that uses american speaking customer service personnel for about the same cost I would drop tracfone like a hot potato. Had a problem with a bad sim card about a year ago and it took a month for them to send me a new one. Their excuse was that they sent the card but it was returned to them because of an address typo. (three or four times) My current nightmare is I purchased a new phone and they told that the sim card in the phone is not compatible with my area (Florida) and they would send me a new sim card. It's been over a month and still no sim card. After 5 attempts their excuse for failing to deliver a sim card to me is, YOU GUESSED IT, They sent the card but it was returned to them because of an address typo..
Word to the wise, Stay away from tracfone if you have another option....
Most folks who buy Tracfones do so because they don't expect to use their cell very much, but still want to have one for emergencies.
Most of the other low cost options out there don't have the coverage that Tracfone has. If someone is buying a phone for emergencies, it kinda defeats the purpose to get one that only works in cities and towns near the interstate highway system.
