US CELLULAR CEO SAYS "NO" TO IPHONE 4 or 4S

Now i know that there are good competitive phones out there and as a carrier that resells the Iphone4(S) is not as profitable as other phones, but I think the company would gain a good chunk of customers just by switching to an iphone and later after a year 1/2 they can upgrade to a different handset. Sales so far of the iphone 4S have been even better than the iphone4, look at C spire i never heard of that company and now is all over the news, it was an instat marketing move. I am dissapointed at US CELLULAR by not giving the iphone4(S) a second thought specially if they are laggin behing latest handsets, and they are loosing customers. like I said there is no much gain to the carrier just by reselling the IPHONE but the carrier gains a new customer instead of investing in silly advertisement like "join the happiest customers in wireless" huh!!! is that the best you can come up with??? invest in new handsets!!! and customer will pour in without any advertisements.

The news about C Spire announcing it will soon carry the iPhone 4S has spurred a number of questions from many of you wanting to know if we will also be selling this device. As Alan shared in his Oct. 4 email, we will not be selling the iPhone at this time.

In fact we had, and carefully evaluated, the opportunity to include the iPhone in our device lineup. While we recognize the popularity of the iPhone, carrying it would have required us to reduce and forego critical investments in other areas of the company – something we are not willing to do. We decided it wasn’t right for our business at this time.

I want you to know I am confident in our strategic plan for the company and our decision regarding the iPhone.

We remain committed to ensuring we have an ever-expanding, robust lineup of phones that fit our customers’ unique needs and wants. We know that with our superior network, customer focus and unmatched customer benefits, U.S. Cellular will continue to provide the best value in the industry, making our customers the happiest in wireless.
