All of the hype about backing up your contacts a little while ago: That was actually Verizon's doing as well and it is free after subscribing to free online Verizon AND no charges for data related to backing up.

As for phone replecement: Verizon usually has plenty of phones available at the store for swapping in and out when the phone does not work. I have not have had to wait. US Cellular forces you to go through their insurance claim or make you go through the manufacturer to repair the phone which is time consuming and sometimes costly to the customer.

Other than that, I have to admit US Cellular's new idea is creative and could very be the way of the future and also a way to maintain their high customer loyalty. This may or may not be successful and only time will tell.

First: Verizon you do not upgrade every year. It if you want to upgrade to a smartphone from an feature phone. After that its 20 months to upgrade.

Second: Verizon just started contact backup apps for free. And you STILL HAVE TO PAY FOR DATA FOR USING IT. So, still paying for contact backup. God!

Third: Verizon does make you go through the manufacture for issue on a one year warranty. They never would replace phone all the time. They have no money to replace all the issue customer have.

My contact backup has been free for using and data usage from the beginning. Still no carrier is doing this. Phone replacement is included with some of the plans. And get the phone replace the SAME DAY. Does not matter if there is a issue or lost. Same day. And upgrade on all phones and does not have to be smartphone upgrade to do it. And upgrade as early as 9 months.
