Personally I think this could be a great situation if it happened. It would put Alltel/US CEllular close to being number four in total customers and within shooting range of T-Mobile. Their coverage areas would go well together and with Alltel's great Leadership and from what I have heard a pretty good network from USC and this could make great business sense!

I dont know if any of you guys know this but according to the following article Alltel covers more of the country than any other major carrier...This merger would really be great for both sides especially USC...(if it happened)

I think so even though I am looking at is somehow the owners of TDS would actually sell to Alltel. I think the regionals need to come together and take a stab at the big three by providing better service, great coverage from what Alltel provides and from what I heard USCC provides and gain a larger portion of the market. Alltel does own the largest Wireless network but it so rural. Major metro spectrum would be super nice for Alltel and USCC could provide Chicago and a few other cities I am not aware of.

Alltel already covers Green Bay. But if their coverage isn't the best and they have few licenses, they might be able to acquire more licenses from USCC, if they were sold today. Alltel would gain Indiana if they could acquire USCC. They would enter NW Indiana, South Bend, & Fort Wayne markets. USCC has some PCS licenses and trying to build out their network more to enter Lafayette, Kokomo, & Indianapolis markets of Indiana. But for now, I expect USCC to just expand their midwest coverage, and Alltel just continue trying to integrate networks into their own, especially any TDMA towers they have, and any GSM tower...

Ya, what if. What if you all know what you where talking about. Alltel does not own anything in Green Bay, Cellcom does. Alltel customers roam off of USCC up there. And this would NEVER happen. Alltel has NO reason to take over USCC. USCC has 2 years max left in its ship. It just will not be able to float, and will sell off its markets one by one. The only way it will be able to.
