I am just curious to see what employees and customers both think about USCC wanting associates to start and end customer interactions with a handshake.
My personal thoughts... 😁
I don't know that I am 100% comfortable beginning an interaction with a handshake...I think a warm smile and pleasant greeting is sufice. Quite frankly...I don't want to touch some of my customers. And I don't want to put a customer outside of their comfort zone either. Once I build a rapore with the customer through the sales process I do usually end the transaction with handshake(depends on the customer) and a "thanks for coming in today!"
Interested to hear others feelings on this.
...
I think it would be a little odd. Im a customer and i think it wouldnt be something i would feel comfortable doing. I feel sorry for the associates because i have seen some of the skanky looking customers that have came into the store when i have been there.
...
i only end sale with a handshake. but i have tried to start my sales pitch with a handshake and the look the cusotmers give me sometimes is not to comforting but i still try to do even though i dont like it
...
Handshake in the end only.... Handshaking means "pleasure doing business"
...
I try to end the sale with a handshake. Some customers come in and somehow they just wanna shake your hand. Awkwwwaard. But yeah. We have a handy bottle of hand sanitizer for those we wish we hadn't shaken hands with.
...
Unfortunately if you want to score a perfect secret shop in our market we have to shake the customer's hand at the beginning. I for one do not want to shake anyone's hand..who knows where they have been! 😕
...
As a customer I prefer not to being greeted with a handshake. I find it awkward. A warm smile and getting is good enough for me. I don't mind ending a transaction with a handshake. I agree with USCELLGIRL

In this cold and flu season I try to shake hands as little as possible. If it offends someone, oh well. It's better than being sick for 5 weeks. Howard Hughes and Michael Jackson were actually right about this particular point.
...
That's fine-and-dandy, but how can you say you won't shake hands because of germs, then subsequently handle their phone that they spend all day talking on and is right near their face and nose. I'd be more worried about touching a phone than shaking someone's hands.
Have fun washing your hands till they bleed. 😁

motoluvr does not work in the cellular industry, so that doesnt apply to him, i had a customer pick his scabs and bleed all over the glass in my kiosk once.
...
That's awesome!
The thing with this whole handshake thing though is that the higher-ups in the company are on this big kick because they've forgotten whats its like to deal one on one with some of the trash that comes strolling through the door. They shake hands daily with business execs and I think that they want us to treat all customers with the upmost respect. Although its a nice concept, I'd like to see them work a day in the stores and go shake everyone's hand.
Maybe if this all works out, we'll be asked to hug our customers next 😳
...
It's a case by case business, i do handshakes from time to time, but that is mostly a guy thing, so i have never shaken a womans hand, just because that is something they never do, i have never had a woman extend her hand to me. I have shaken some dirty ass hands but thats not big deal to me because i am not a germ freak, but i was about to throw up when that one guy was bleeding on our glass.

I've worked in the cellular industry since Al was in diapers. I am playing him like a fiddle :-) He has no clue who I am.
The nice thing is that Alejandro has turned to God ever since his near-death-experience the other day.

LMAO 🤣
I just keep reading and laughing, I can't help it... The more Alejandro types, the more I laugh. I haven't had time to respond lately, I just read and laugh.

Being one of the trash customers, it would impress the hell out of me if some slacker sales rep actually knew how to make and introduction. "Hello,my name is slacker sales clerk thank you for coming in to our store and giving me an opportunity to be paid"
just my opinion
...
Shaking hands with all your customers will give you a 99% chance of getting a cold/flu. You might just as well give them a kiss too and end the suspense.
...
It's a valid point too....
But you, responding to my post, makes it seem like I am the one who said trash.... and I do not want people to think I said that.

I didn't even know there's trash talk associated with this link.
...
motosux said trash when he lumped all the unwashed customers together, it looks like VA_Cust took offense to that... but the problem was he didnt respond to motosux's post, he responded to mine.
...
sorry you took some heat for that. Yeah, I said it, and I'd say it again too.
...
I'm not worried about it, i just didnt want to see another flame war in here.
...
yeah, you seem to get a lot of crap, especially from the new "couple"
...
I'm staying away from new people, especially people who claim to work for u.s. cellular but do not know basic operations, maybe we should play games where we have each other look up stuff on the OLR.

I'm with USCELLGURL. Sometimes your answers seem to indicate that you do not work for USCC. But I'm glad that you have found Jesus ever since your near-death-experience.
...
I hope you meant you agree that a handshake can be uncomfortable and not that I said I doubt that alejandro works for USCC...I never once said I doubted that alejandro worked for USCC.

You are correct.
...
he is confusing you for the other uscellgirl.
...
i am USCELLGIRL...not USCELLGURL
...
I am VA_Cust...not "trash"
...
then don't be offended when people address the "trash" because if it doesnt apply to you it should not upset you. if you are not the guy picking his scabs and bleeding all over the glass then you have nothing to worry about.
...
then according to your rational, you should not be offended if i say the agents on here suck and don't know what they are talking about 99.999% of the time..right? cool!

And there is a constant gnat buzzing around me whenever i post in here. I'm not sure what it is, but it's just the most annoying sound, maybe if i ignore him he will go away.

It's not a gnat. It's the voice of truth. Get used to it. No more free rides with your lines of b.s.

Or maybe it's a boll weevil. They are attracted to foul odors.

So when are we going to play the olr game. This might be fun, lol. It's funny to me how a simple conversation can end up so wrong. But hey like I always say people look for attention in the funniest places.
...
I think we need to take a census of people who actually claim to work for us cellular first, and if there is enough participation, then we can play. I will check soon.
...
If you came in looking professional, you would get a professional greeting.
Beings you are admitting to being trash, however, you most likely wouldn't...and no, I'm not interested in your dirty money if its going to come back $400 deposit or a chargeback anyways.
just my opinion
