If USCC were looking to be bought out, they would not be spending so much to build out new markets like St. Louis. Also, TDS ownd 82% of USCC's stock, and if I remember correctly the dividends make up the majority of TDS's revenues.

Besides owning US Cellular, TDS is in the business of suburban and rural telephone and internet service. With the growth of widespread free wireless broadband service and VoIP phone services, I don't think that it would be very smart for TDS to sell off US Cellular in the near future.

So really, waiting to load a different piece of software is really not a high concern. I wish US Cellular had newer and more phones, but I am happy that the phones I buy generally work.
