DON'T GET US CELLULAR

dont_get_us-cellular

Aug 1, 2005, 1:55 PM
I just spent awhile and wrote up a review for US Cellular on this site. It is pending approval.

I just wanted to say US Cellular assured me that I could get out of my 2yr contract if I move outside their local coverage areas. This week I am doing this, but they are badgering me about it. I will post the results of my process here.

Email me if you have any questions.

What does any of this have to do with not getting U.S. Cellular?

If you want to get out of the contract by moving, you need to return your equipment and provide proof of residancy. Its just that simple.

Have a great day.

Maybe you shouldn't sign a 2 yr service agreement if you know you are going to be moving out of the area!!

well, with uscc, if you dont sign a 2 year agreement, you dont get the unlimited call me minutes free, and that is USCC's biggest selling point over other carriers.

That is true by why sign a 2 yr service agreement at the understanding that you will not complete the full 2 yrs due to moving out of the area.

that is true. It sounds to me that the Rep that was working with him should have pushed for the prepaid, USCC has a prepay package for a set amount each month, and you still get the free incoming minutes, and I think you can add night and weekends. This way, when he moves, all he has to do is shut it down.

They offer the free incoming minutes on the prepay, but wont let you get it free on a 1 year contract, that does not make sense to me.

US Cell like all the carriers are pushing 2 year contracts, and they want to discourage people from signing 1 year. 2 year contracts just keep the price of the phones down, and everybody benifits from that. Like georgia said, if you dont want to sign a 2 year, US Cell offers great prepay plans that include free incoming.

As far as etf's go, here is what I understand. USCC did waive fees over a year ago as a courtesy. They revised their stance because they were under no obligation to waive them. Your contract mentions that you agree to use 50% of your usage in a USCC market, but does not mention anything about waiving fees if you move. It boils down to a customers choice. Pay more for a phone and not be tied into contract or pay less, and get charged on the back end if you cancel. Call me minutes can be added without a contract as well but are not free.

You know that you can pay to get unlimited call me minutes, mobile to mobile and nights and weekends. The problem is people want the whole barn when they get cellphone service. You want a high tech phone that cost 400.00, but you want to pay a 1.00 for it. You want 5000 minutes and free incoming, free mobile to mobile and night and weekends that start at 7pm.. then you turn around and want your bill to be 30.00 a month!! give me a break.. If you want a high tech phone PAY for it. If you want call me and nights & weekends, PAY FOR IT!!.. Do you expect your electric company to give you free service every month?? I don't think so.. Having a mobile phone is luxury not a necessity. Thats why taxes on cellphones by states is so high.. I do believe ...

Pay the $150 and there you go you don't need to move, every carrier has a cancellation fee it shouldn't come as a surprise
