EVDO is up in Central Illinois

I turned on the phone yesterday afternoon to find the long awaited "Ev" icon on my Touch Pro. Earlier in the day (before noon) I had done a roaming update and was still at 1X, so the change must have occured during the afternoon.

My location is Washington, IL, across the river from Peoria, so I presume Peoria is EVDO now too.

This is only two or so months after the tentative switch date announced by US Cell reps in my area. I have not seen a formal announcement on the USC website.

Thanks for the clarification--I suppose Bloomingtonians shouldn't get too excited then...

Do you know what the boundaries for this market are? Our USC rep told us that Bloomington was up, but that certainly wasn't the case two months ago. I was also told the Springfield was supposed to be up (with all those State Capital muckety mucks needing their broadband), but I haven't been down there in a while to test that theory.

uscc is bringing evdo up in phases. So far, we are in phase 3 now. That covers wis, western illinois, mid-atlantic and new england. They have any info on the next phase yet. But, central illinois could be testing and trying the network. So, you should get ev show up once in awhile.

Hope this helps.

western il has seen the rollout as well, on around 7/24. i was in northern wi (out of local coverage) but traveling to and fro saw an almost constant evdo connection. nw il is also up (as part of phase 2 i believe). sorry to missourians though. looks like you're not even slated for the upgrade.

The line for EVDO right now is half way to Bloomington almost on 74 from Peoria. I believe Goodfield is just outside or on the border.

everybody supposed to get it by end of next year if everything goes well, for some reason the bigger markets are slower to get it- might be cause they are newer though tooo. oklahoma city isnt set to launch yet either. weve only been in that area since 04 or 05. they are #3 in size i think and st louis is #2 but weve only been there since 06
