Blackberry Pearl Flip vs. HTC Touch Pro??
I currently have the Motorola Q9c. It can be okay at times but, in all honesty, it sucks pretty bad. I am currently not eligible for upgrade but am willing and able to purchase a new phone for full price. After having had the Curve 8330 for a couple weeks and now having the Q9c, I know that the Blackberry OS is, in my practice, much snappier, less of a hassle, and far less problematic than Windows Mobile. This really drew me to the Blackberry Pearl Flip that is getting ready to be released in the next couple days. On top of that, it is a brand new phone running a fairly new version of the Blackberry operating system. However, I am also drawn to the HTC Touch Pro. I'll tell you what I tell most people who come into our store.
1. Touch screens are a fad. They're "the in thing" right now, and while that doesn't mean they're bad, it shouldn't really be what sells you on a phone. Touching your contacts menu or pressing a shoulder key are no different except you get your screen dirty. In terms of the phones, you get a different interface, but that's all it is; a different way to interact with the exact same information.
2. RIM develops their Operating Software in house. So do Apple, Palm, and a lot of other phones. Windows Mobile, however, is an all-purpose front-end that is stuck into models it wasn't always necessarily developed for. This is why a lot of people have a mixed or buggy experie...

Thanks for the insight. I'm sure some forum members here remember my horrifying experiences with the Q9c when I first got it. Thus far the whole one-size-fits-all aspect of Windows Mobile doesn't really suite me all too well and, frankly, I don't buy it. The Touch Flo 3D interface is brilliant on HTC's part but that doesn't change the fact that the underlying operating system is still Windows Mobile. I understand the whole bit about touchscreens being a fad but, truthfully, I'm a big fan of that fad and currently own a great iPod touch.
